It has been said that most anxiety is an expression of self-doubt. It sounds plausible enough. I have crippling (AvPD) self-esteem issues.

I have disconnected from myself a lot recently. Too much pressure from life seems to make me forget myself. Even when I try, I seem to reject my own efforts.

If I can't get on with myself, then I can't really expect anyone else to care. I think you are right, it is leading to self doubt.

I also characterise symptoms of depression as a deep pain, which sometimes feels like it's coming from a wound at the centre of my chest. I think I know what you're feeling because I feel it too.

I find that every time I hit pain - my brain thinks it's impossible to bear - but in fact each time I build up habits that "comfort" me.
The most important is being patient with myself, suspending panic/ criticism, and being willing to take small steps = whatever works.
Put comfort in quotes because not what my brain sees as "comforting", but the kindness/ attention that some deep buried self needs.
