I agree. Different people will have their own tolerances and reactions to prolonged pain - physical and/or psychological.

In my case, I think it has done both.

It can go either way, I guess. The good thing about having emotional pain (or other kinds of pain for that matter) is that we can become more empathetic towards other people. And we can comfort others who are going through the same thing because we can relate.

The negative side of it is that you can retreat so much and give up.
