My boyfriend make me watch Bo Burnham's Make Happy without warning me. That **** hit really close to home.

Had to look up what it was exactly .. the fact that it's a stand up comedy that mentions mental health gave me chills (in a bad way) .. sorry

He's not joking about it, he's talking about his own problems. Some of the comments online about it say that it's just part of his act and they think he's fine, but I'm betting those people have never dealt with depression themselves. He's far too familiar with it.

Perhaps it's someone close to him? A lot of times stand up comedians use life experiences - but generally things like that would be a little more like 2nd person type experience rather than 1st person .. (watching a loved one go thru it rather than living n feeling it)

No, it's specifically about him and growing up in the public spotlight/being a performer.
