How do I get the balance “right” between censoring everything I say.. and so basically saying nothing at all.. and sharing “too much” / “whining” etc

Burn your muzzle Fuzzy

Speak your truth
I am here to listen

Expressing ourselves when we feel distress,
The pain speaks
Not whining
Just pain...
Let it out
Feel it out
Let it go....

Here - theoretically - you don't need to get the balance "right". Your forum friends certainly don't expect "balance" or "self-censorship" from you.
((((((( )))))))

I can see where self-censorship is useful in many contexts and social situations. I must confess I've often chosen silence over "getting it wrong".

I’ve never once seen you “get it wrong” on here (if you did I wouldn’t judge that ) as you say, our forum friends don’t expect “balance” or “self censorship”

I “get it wrong” a lot in real life .. but often I am silent :-(

You don't censor - unless you want to (not bc someone else wants you to n not to please someone else)

I agree 100+ %. Here is about expressing what bothers us. It is the place where we can firmulate our thoughts into words.....which I find helps clarify thoughts.

I have often chosen silence over "getting it wrong" IRL social situations. It has only been in the last few years my confidence started growing & I do a lot of research to learn which has helped confidence....but I still find times when silence is good just less often now.

Assertiveness for us includes silence. When we speak our emotions cannot easily be kept under control. We need to feel safe to allow them out.
