So, after a night of minute-by- minute naps, I’ve awakened to the day...before daybreak. I’ve read in other threads how others with depression reach out but are either ignored or not cared about because others’ lives are just too busy to care about one who is suffering. I have done the same and been ignored or just dismissed. Because I have been independent all of my life, others think I don’t need help - even a kind word. But, who I fooling? After a lifetime of taking care of others and volunteering, no one wants me around if I can’t do something for them.

I think my latest ‘kick in the teeth’ yesterday was my sister-in-law complaining that she can’t make it on her generous retirement income, when mine is only a third of hers. In addition, she takes money constantly from her kids, grandkids and sisters, but she is constantly broke. No, I know I can’t compare my life with hers, but I have been the only one in my life. I’m tired of struggling.

I am lonely, broke, injured, and have no one to depend on. There is nothing left in me. I am just used up.

5 views is relatively small. Not everyone will comment. Some bc they don't know what to say. Some bc they can't relate at all. Some bc they haven't the time to comment atm. Some simply misclicked trying to open the post above or below it. Some don't want to say thingd which may sound hurtful but that's all they can think to say. Some simply don't want to reply - and that's ok too. I have had posts where upward of 90 ppl view it and never comment. That does become hurtful indeed, but the same reasons are true.

I have been this way before. Do you have or can you get a counselor? It helps just to have someone to talk to n offer fresh ideas you may not have thought of..

Thank you, Crypts_Of_The_Mind, for explaining why this thread didn't get the feedback that I needed.

I have spoken to counselors before, but, basically, it is up to the individual to figure out what and how to do get of the depressive state. At least, that has been my experience. Yes, you are allowed to talk, but no useful suggestions are given. I was hoping that others who are experiencing the same would offer some suggestions.

But, every person's experience is unique, I understand that. I was just hoping that someone out in the world had somewhat similar experiences.

You're welcome ❤

I think many of us who are depressed feel we are alone. Not all if us have had the financial aspect of it you speak of. Most of my family , in fact, would accuse me of being a beggar even tho I only ask for help once every several years - maybe - and only if I am.about to be homeless or in one case needed help getting out of an abusive relationship.. all (except the most recent) were denied. So .. we can relate in some ways, not in others.

I can tell you though that one thing that will help - evaluate your interpersonal relationships.. all of them (friendship, family, co-worker, etc) .. decide which ones are healthy and which ones are unhealthy. Then look at the unhealthy ones and figure out which ones you need to (and are able to) totally sever - and do so. The others - look at one by one and decide what changes (or what limits) need to be made to make them healthy. Understand you cannot change others. So whatever changes you make need to be in expectations of the relationship and/or limitations regarding contact.

I hope that helps. ❤

Hey Martha2019! I can relate to your sleep problems. Sometimes I can't sleep at night because I'm too anxious or paranoid but then during the day I suddenly feel safer and don't have any trouble sleeping. I try hard not to make a habit of it though. I stay awake as much as I can and after a few days it usually gets better. Hope you get a good night's rest. Sorry that the lack of responses made you feel like that but you aren't alone. Feel free to message me if you want to chat

I have insomnia as well a lot ... I do the same as described or else use lavender essential oil on my pillow. Another good thing if you can do it .. is to soak your feet in warm water n then massage them...

Never tried that before specifically. I used to like taking baths with lavender Epsom salts but I now share a home and have the smaller bathroom with just a shower. Lavender oil on the pillow sounds nice though. I'll try that!

2-3 drops lavender essential oil .. n flip it over so you don't get the oil on your face ❤

It works well!

Or - you can put it directly on the pillow, then put the case back on .. but easier for it to disperse from the pillow case
