This movie still breaks my heart. Just to know that there are millions like Stephen Hawking who suffer from one cause or another. People which I can relate to.
But, the movie itself, on Dr.Hawking's life, just gives me an ache in the heart. He did not deserve the terrible disease. He did not deserve living more than fifty years on a chair, handicapped. But he did what could be done, he thought optimistically and still did his work. He did not win the noble prize but he saved my life. Now that I think about it, if I ever get to do research in theoretical physics (I have a background in chemistry and I can't change it at this stage) I will probably do my best to give a 'theory of everything.' Something other great minds like Einstein wanted. I am also disabled. But I see an inspiration from him. I think, "if Dr.Hawking could overcome such a terrible disease, I can overcome my terrible disease too!" It's not that I have never given up. That I've never let anyone down. It's simply not the case. But I can try to, overcome my disability. That's all I can do. I must never give up if I want to be known as a scientist in the community. Yes, let those who call me names, continue their actions. I am so young, I have made so many mistakes, it might be my fault that people who call me names indeed call me names. But what are you going to do to change it? Nothing. I wish everything would just work out. I will do my best. If something happens in my journey from becoming 'that crazy kid' to a scientist who's well-respected and well-known, and I never get to finish it, I will understand and move on. Perhaps to a job outside of the field of science. But till then, all I can do is try. Trying won't hurt. So I guess, we do need people who are inspiration to other people. That is the only way, we can get more people in education to pursue higher education and it will help make the world a better place. Thank you Dr.Hawking for teaching me the meaning of life, individually. I cannot speak of others, but I know my meaning of life - To do my best to do a career in science. |

Inspirational movies can be so helpful when I’ve felt at my worst and most sad or miserable.
