Hi there,
I was wondering how people accept the way that they look...I am having a terrible time trying to accept the way that I look.Is anyone else having a problem with the way that they look?

Well... yeah. To begin with I've had a life-long struggle with gender dysphoria. So there's that. Plus I have a crooked nose that was never repaired thanks to a gang of boys that bullied me throughout high school. And now I'm aging. So my face is just a wrinkled up mess to boot plus I'm losing my hair... at least the hair that's on top of my head. Everyplace else it grows like wildfire. I sometimes joke I'm turning into a chimpanzee. (Oh... & I've had a lazy eye my entire life too.) So do I have a problem with the way I look? You betcha... The good thing is, at my age, nobody's looking anyway...

I have a hard time accepting the way I look. I read about an exercise one time doing mirror work where you look into your eyes say your name and I am beautiful, handsome, gorgeous, etc. every day. You can also add I love you. I couldn’t get past the first day.

I hope you find ways to accept how you look.

Not exactly the way that I look, but the way that people perceive me if that makes any sense at all. During the 15 months that I was in the abusive situation I was in there wasn't a day that went by that I wasn't called many degrading names and put down horribly and said I wouldn't amount to anything and would probably end up being killed once I reached a certain age and was used up, Those sort of words still ring in my head every single day and those are the things I deal with and not that I think my face might be ugly or I am too short or my ears are too big. It is those horrible words that I can't get out of my head.

I have an issue with how I look but most of it I can change it is just difficult. I hate that I'm overweight and there are many factors that makes losing weight difficult and I developed some coping habits that make it even more so. I hate that I'm a fuzz ball but again hair removal helps but I hate that I'm hairy mammal. I know that this is also made worse by my gender dysphoria so it is a lose-lose situation.
