Does anyone have advice on managing triggered emotions? Sometimes I stumble into triggers and others I am fairly warned and look anyways. Why look at something triggering? I cant help myself!

Im in upset/sad/drowning/panic attack mode. I have a PRN benzo for the edge. What else do you do to bring yourself back down?

I use Pete Walker's management steps.

Pete Walker, M.A. Psychotherapy

I try to remember to use them but when severely triggered I often forget.

Better judgment, step back and don’t engage, and CBD oil

Step back and don’t engage if someone is being a judgmental jerk. Tatty Teddy to give consolation.

I am finding it really hard to intercept my triggers right now. I feel too overwhelmed ......

Does anyone have advice on how to be more aware of emotions?

I struggle with emotions. My Regular T last night told me to think of it like this: emotions are like ash blowing in the wind. They come, we experience them, they go. They dissipate. For feeling overwhelmed, try some self care. What can you do that would make yourself feel a tiny bit better? Going for a walk? Lighting a candle? Getting a coffee? Taking a warm shower? Climbing into bed with a stuffed animal and squeezing it tight? Tell yourself you are loved. Because you are. HUGS Kit
