Where to begin?... My life has been a downward spiral since the first week of October. I had a necessary surgery, and developed complications requiring more surgeries. I’ve used all my FMLA and paid leave through work, so I’ve been without income for over a month. I’ve filed short term disability with my employer, but am waiting on approval. All my bills are behind, I have things being turned in to collections daily, my electricity will be turned off in a few days, I’m very close to eviction, and the man I love has decided he doesn’t want a relationship with me because I’m “too negative”. I’m more depressed than I can ever recall being...but when I mentioned that I was feeling depressed to the man I was with, he said “Depression is just an excuse to feel sorry for yourself and to get others to feel sorry for you...stop being so dramatic and negative.” The more I tried to explain...the worse it got, until he just said he was done. I just need some reassurance I will be ok...because I’m not feeling that I will. I just needed to ‘talk’ to someone...so thanks for ‘listening’.

You will be ok. You are strong and will make it through this. When your disability comes through you will be able to catch up bills and get back on track. As far as your man is concerned he has shown his true colors. He obviously doesn't understand depression and lacks compassion and empathy.

You have plenty of reasons to be feeling down. It’s not an excuse. You’ve been through a lot. People can only take so much. Sometimes the best you can do is take things one problem at a time and slowly make your way through it all. You can get through this in time. I hope you find support either IRL or here or both. Have faith that things will come together. I wish you all the best.
