Pete Walker wrote about abandonment depression. It is where I first heard the term.

During an emotional flashback we feel unworthy and unacceptable. This triggers our snakes to goad us causing further trauma. It becomes too painful and we dissociate from our inner self/cub. Our inner cub learnt many years ago that without a nurturing caretaker there is a failure to thrive. This is due to the 4 F's response to the trauma we feel.

Many hugs to all those who suffer from self abandonment
