Hi guys, my city is on lockdown which is severely impacting our economy. Even parks are closed to the public.
Whether you are unsure of employment prospects or working from home, it’s tough to be stuck at home away from things that keep you active and engaged. Personally I have been furloughed so I have nothing to do all day. I’ve found that being at home all the time increases my depression and brain fog so I thought it could be helpful for me/us to write daily goals to structure our days. For me what I want to do today/tomorrow is: - network and work on my resume - call landlord about my rent - get in touch with work - laundry - shower - work on my website daily goals: - watch one art tutorial and if possible, try the skills myself - write or read something that inspires my writing - try out some floor dance moves to get exercise - text one friend - water my plants - keep an eye on job postings and apply. Network but idk how that could be daily... - clean something for 15-20 minutes. What about you guys?! Last edited by Anonymous43774; Mar 27, 2020 at 10:06 PM.. |

Hi, the walls! I think this thread is a good idea. Having structure & a routine is good for me & a lot of people, & I think the brain & the body like that. Your list sounds healthy to me. My main problem right now is feeling too tired to do much, mostly from not getting good enough sleep. I wish I could get back to my routine, which was really healthy for me. I miss it. Good luck to you!

Did read online about astronauts who are in space months at a time and away from friends and family, keep structured schedules with specific times of when to do certain tasks. This would be helpful for me since I have set daily goals, but for some of the day may drift or idly watch tv or stay on the internet. In the next few days may try to set myself a schedule of tasks for the day to include things such as study 11-12:30. Lunch 12:30-1:30, nap 1:30-2 pm, etc.

A life coach I follow sent out this list on how to use this lockdown time. Great ideas:
Maintain wellbeing: As always, our state of mind will be in a better place through maintaining exercise, sleep and diet. HIIT training and yoga are options for keeping active in isolation and there’s plenty of it online. Be social: Scheduling in calls with friends and family, or even groups of them. Bear in mind, during a time when everyone’s calendar is being scrapped, this could be the best chance we’ve all had to catch up in a while. Create: Necessity is the mother of invention. Being forced inside is an opportunity to create art, music, DIY, next year's Christmas cards...you get the idea. Leave the house: Unless on complete lockdown, just getting some space, air and movement can take the edge off. Or just lean out of the window and sing. Meditate: That thing we never get around to doing because we never have a quiet moment. Well we should have a few more of them now. Download Calm or Headspace and just sit in the moment, rather than wishing it was different. Go easy on social media: We'll all be tempted to scroll our lives away and/or immerse ourselves in virus updates. But that probably won’t do much good for our state of mind. Social media can of course be a great thing, providing we control it and it doesn't control us. Considering our co-habitors: It's likely we've never had to see as much of the person or people we live with, as much as we will in isolation. So let’s make an extra effort in considering personal space and communicating properly. Read, watch, listen: Get away from the constant stream of bad news. Listen to some music, watch some movies, read some books and enjoy the downtime. Learn: Even better, use the opportunity to learn a new skill or way of thinking. There are a ton of free courses online - when else will we get this opportunity? Have a routine: Waking up at 8:55am for a day of laptop in bed sounds great. But the reality can creep up and make isolation feel even more depressing. Maintaining a routine and wearing more than just underpants, also has its benefits. Go to online events: Online events aren't quite the same as the real thing, but they provide a shared experience we can enjoy and connect with our communities. |

Well today hasn’t gone so smoothly. I started writing someone back who had given me feedback on my resume and wanted to mention that I’m looking for work. And I was going to make lemon chicken. I have some lemons in the fridge that I picked from the tree down the street. But haven’t used them. My roommate came home early today though so I didn’t make it.
Anyway I ate a lot of junk food today. And I have this voice that tells me to go back to bed. With the door locked and the curtains shut. No where is safe except my bed. I figure the absolute emotional exhaustion I’ve had since a kid is driving this need. I can still get that email done and get in touch with work. zapatoes, I might need a schedule too. Yzen, I really like the phrase “a day of laptop in bed”. Still have to do laundry and stuff tomorrow then. |

Today I thought about a schedule and instead set a goal to go for a walk with my dog for 30-40 minutes. Since it was mostly raining today I kept checking weather app and just walked anyway, and took an umbrella. Washed dishes, did a few loads of laundry, watched a movie, and ate a late lunch. Took a break from studying for certification test since it’s Saturday and studied some every day this past week. Ate a late dinner of leftovers and watched part of a movie tonight. Want to find a really good book to read.

I haven’t been productive at all. I am very depressed. I’m going to try to go to the bank today. I was able to go for a three mile walk the other day.
Three people got back to me about my resume. It was helpful. I’ve had the same old style since college. Don’t know what an adult resume looks like. Don’t think networking with those people is going well. I’ll try to cobble together replies. Still haven’t contacted landlord. I tried texting but I guess the number is a landline (who even has those these days?). So I guess I’m not going to be contacting her since I cannot speak verbally go anyone at the moment. I’ve been thinking a lot about why I am the way I am. It is very depressing. |

Today I received my last paycheck. I’m going to go to the bank. I’m going to keep going on that drawing I’m doing. Try to experiment with animation. Maybe go for a walk. Read a little. I discovered this poet I think I’ll really like. I am almost done reading the forward and introduction. I’m very slow.
Also I have been watching Twin Peaks and I love it!! I want to try cutting down time on electronics though. |

I guess my only goal for today is to eat a decent meal
for 2 days now I've not been filled up by dinner. it shouldn't really come as a surprise (I have a big appetite anyway), but this has been extra small |
