I am having trouble meeting new people, letting people know me out if fear if getting hurt. I am trying to change it with professional help but I have a long way to go and I feel so alone right now... What should I do to help myself? How not to let the depression take over?

I don't have an easy answer. It helps me to find things to keep busy, especially if it involves movement. I also tell myself I will not let depression win. Giving up is not an option. Keep working at it and don't let it take over.

I hope things get better for you soon!

Tough to give good and useful advice. I remember when I was your age (early 20's) and the loneliness back then... mainly due to graduating and losing contact with people. Maybe it's cliche to say this, but you've still got so much time to meet people. It becomes much harder later on, so now's probably still your best time!
