Deejay-I’m hoping for the best for your husband.

I find it helpful to take little walks around the hospital or outside if the door isn’t too far to look at artwork and flowers. Take care of yourself too

I just got errands and exercise in. Tomorrow...a much needed haircut. I have to figure out a way to get the exercise in everyday because it helps keeps my pain in check and helps me cope, and I have to keep the sugar down so I don't have to take another pill...ugh!! So lots of reasons to figure out how I can do this while husband is home recuperating. We will take whatever comes one day at a time, but surgery day cannot come fast enough.

Just trying my best not to let fear get me. Just going one hour at a time. And then when the hour is up I make another agreement with myself to not get scared. I won't know much until he h a s a ct scan. Hopefully it happens this week.

I think it will be awhile t I'll be can walk with me though on the walker it is very slow so one never knows. I need fabric under my toes to hold the plank so I think I am going to clear out the back seat of my car and use that while he is in bed recuperating. My car has been needing a good clean for awhile so that is a good thing to do on Friday.

Thank you for your s support guys. It means a lot to me.

Got everything done today which was a surprise because upon rising I had pretty severe pain in my whole back and sides as well as some gas pains, which since the colostomy the gas pains can double me over (yes, sometimes I thank God for the walker!) But I got some ES Tylenol and got I to the shower and was better by the time I got dressed.

My husband did his preoperative testing this afternoon and needed some cancer labs so we took care of that. I heard lots of great praise for my husband's surgeon that was all unsolicited,so that was even better and soooo... I feel better about all this. I was even lucky enough to have a chat with a doc I tota!ly trust about how to navigate the system of doctors my husband has e ven though for good reason I have distrust, and I don't always think he has received the best care. So that was helpful too. In fairness I do have to say that my husband has total confidence in his surgeon. I think I might finally sleep tonight!

I slept last night from 10 pm to 8 am this morning. Hubby wanted some quiet time and told me I was being too noisy LOL! I went over to a family cookout and he got 6 hours of quiet time so I hope that was in someway helpful to him.

Thank God it's the weekend and I don't e,exercise. It is very hot and humid here today and I so do not do well with that.

Pleased to hear that your husband has confidence in the surgeon and glad that you slept well last night. Not always a bad thing to have some time apart.

Yesterday my exercise consisted of raking the leaves that had fallen in the back yard and picking some lemons from the tree. Today I am contemplating cutting back the canna lillies in the front garden as winter approaches. Not sure......

Wow! Lemon trees...very cool. I really wish winter was approached bing here today. It is so hot and humid. The weatherman said that the temp would fall into the 50s during the day, but that did not happen it is nightfall and it's still 80 degrees and humid. In short the weatherman lied!!! It was good to spend the afternoon with about 30 of my family. I am one of 9, so even great nieces and nephews in there. So very adorable..four toddlers. My brother had a double lung transplant in September had been doing well, but just got out of the hospital on Thursday after an unplanned two week stay. He will be going back in on Tuesday morning for surgery on the new "healthy" lungs. I am more concerned at the moment for my brother but he has literally the best doctors in the world. It's just his recovery from transplant surgery was very hard on him and it literally took a village to get through the worst. It's good there were so many of us to help He could literally not be left alone for a minute for he first ten weeks.

My husband will not accept help from my family or his for that matter but I will need some support getting laundry done and getting trash to the curb and I can guarantee my family will take care of this or anything else I ask for help with. I told him we are in this together, but something s are impossible for me to do safely. I think when he actually has the s surgery and experiences his limitations he will be okay with anything. He's never had an over night hospitalization or a major surgery.

Thanks for the lemon tree visual. That will be a good one for sleep!

<<<< 65 here, self-Diagnosed 7+ yrs ago. only one in large extended family~ also have (enzyme deficient) hypoxia (low blood oxygen) and sleep apnea. i was poisoned with psych meds 25 yrs ago, and sustained severe brain damage. i have regained a lot, but am still working on memory, math, and 3 dimensional thinking. i have a terrible case of inertia married to agoraphobia, so i am overweight, under exercised, and on Vitamin D. (and i just love pictures of flowers~!)

I don't have diabetes yet, but I am overweight and eat too much sugar, so I'm afraid I might get Type 2.

I have been in the pre diabetes range for about 5 years. Got over into diabetes in December 2016. Started exercising not because of diabetes but because I fell at 2 am and couldn't get up and the fire department had to come. Although they were wonderful...th a t just couldn't happen again. So around Dec. 1 of last year started just a small strengthening routine of 6 exercises or so. Very slowly worked my way up to 50 reps of everything. It takes about 35 minutes and in March 26 of this year my readings were all normal. I have done this pretty faithfully 5 days a week. Occasionally it's 4 times but not very often.

So even doing this while watching television has really paid off, and I am much stronger and have less pain. Have gone from narcotics to ES Tylenol. I found I needed two days off to recover so that has been on the weekend. If I don't exercise on Monday- Friday I definitely experience a significant increase in pain.

So give something a try that works for you. I did not think my strengthening exercises would be enough to make a difference in blood sugar but it has!!

Thanks for posting the pictures of the canna lilies and the lemons Gus. I did try and post a picture but the gremlins keep on stealing my pictures. Some of the lemons are like grapefruit big and round while others are smaller and have patches on green on them because they don't get enough direct sunlight due to the fact that a massive fig tree blocks the suns rays. I love the really fresh smell from the lemon when I pick them. Pity we can't have a scratch and sniff icon on the computer. Any who the juice is the same so that's all that matters. Raining here today. Yay.

Deejay I am pleased that you have family that will help you out despite what your hubby says. It gets really humid here in the summer and I hate it too. Today is definitely not humid at all. A double lung transplant is a massive deal sounds like your family stepped up when you brother needed it most. It must be special to be part of a big family that care.

My dad had diabetes most of his life and so does my brother so the genetic side of it is there. I have been on Seroquel for many years. It was only when I was inpatient at a psych facility that I was tested for it and it came back positive. It is pretty much well controlled or so my doctor says when he gets the tests done.
