Very lovely Gus. Yes, lets all meet there to get away from the hot wind or cold wind whichever you may be facing.

Are those 'bumps' of your sore Gus? My bumps are near my belly button so I am not sure of the name or how they will fix it. Least today it's no where near as sore as Monday. Think it helps when people aren't prodding or poking in that region. My bsls were up again this morning and I hadn't even eaten anything. I could put it down to stress but who am I kidding with that one.

i am completely mystified by what makes my blood sugars go up and down, sometimes, possum... of course pasta and cookies are obvious, but there are times when i go for 6 hrs without eating, and my blood sugar drops 10 points... other times, i take a nap (which usually raises my bsl by 30 points, and wake up in a cold sweat, shaking for juice.

honestly, my meds are not working well at all. i'm on a 1200 calorie a day diet, and i'm using more than my maximum prescribed meds,, at this rate i calculate i will come up about 25 days short of my 90 day supply~! i know my doc is going to be unhappy, but not as unhappy as i am~!

i am seriously considering alternatives to the met/glyp Tx that i've been on for 7 yrs... the only time it really worked was when i was on 800 calories a day. that was a side-effect of a med, which the doc promptly took away from me, because i was loosing (much needed) weight (60 lbs, 40 of which i have kept off more than a yr, now).

i just wish i had more access to tests and trials than i do~ or better yet... no diabetes at all. i had considered the gastro-surgery, but i hesitated, and likely a good thing, because my body no longer produces the enzyme that is necessary to keep my veins permeable (passing gas ), so i'm on oxygen and hating that. it has also impaired my small blood vessels and corpuscles which carry nutrients to the cells and lactic acid ('ashes' and toxins) away... leaving me with diminished stamina and strength.

still, as i loose functions, i find i desire less and less, appreciate more and more, and feel more comfortable with the end result of living......... i have a little saying that i joke with myself, tho most people don't think it's funny:
life sucks, and then you don't die~ ME just a little cheese with my whine

Sounds like the meds are not quite right if you need to adjust them. Too bad if the doc is unhappy they aren't you. Did you end up getting the new oxygen tank sorted?

I always did appreciate the dark side of humor. Yup, life sucks and then you don't die. Often in my head a line from Jack and Diane song "Life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone". Maybe there needs to be a cheese and whine club on PC.

i'm exceeding the max dose of met/glyp, so the only alternative is some new drug or insulin....

i did get my CPAP repaired, without a sleep test, after 3 months of hassle and even calling Medicare... gads what a nightmare~

I am pleased that you eventually got the CPAP machine sorted.

Fingers crossed that there will be a medication that isn't insulin that can help.

I am considering putting a cheese and whine thread some place.

I have a referral to see a surgeon (is away on holidays at the moment) on the 24 August for my hernia. My doctor is worried that it may strangulate and he wants to gets it fixed before it gets nasty. Tooth issues had me seeing a prosthodontist yesterday and I need to see a periodontist next week to treat the infection. Don't know how many treatments that will take.
Two weeks need to get bsls tested and iron levels. Seems like I am wearing a goat track to my doctor. Feeling old and cold and overwhelmed.

it's often wise to take a course of 'pro-biotics' after any oral antibiotic, because it kills off the 'good bugs' in the intestine.... i personally like the expensive 24 strain kinds, but most of them just have 4 strains, which you can get in good yogurt and cottage cheese...

doctors... can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em....

Okay guys really not doing well here. Think I exercised once this week. I just can't get myself back in the groove. I stopped because it has been so hot and humid. The last few days have been lovely summer days, but I just can't do it. How do I get myself back in the habit??

Yes, yogurt and probiotics Gus sound like a good idea.

Was wondering where you were Deejay. Would your hubby go for a walk with you in the early morning before it gets too hot. The heat is very draining emotionally and physically. Any malls close by that have aircon? Sending you lots of cold air from across the pond.

Hi possum my husband works! I can do without the walking but I really need to do my strengthening exercises. I feel terrible about myself for not doing it but that still doesn't get me moving. IF I get this part time job I am going to need to not use the walker for those three hours three days a week so I need my strength to be as good as it can be. I suck!

Was IP in the psych ward for a week and they checked my sugar 4 times a day... was good everytime. Only one time was it high, but he checked it right after the snack and I had had some juice... so doesn't count.

Proud of myself. Was offered a regular soda for free yesterday and passed it up. Been having a lot of problems with sugary stuff lately. Really craving it.

Also, my sugar tested higher than I vfc e seen it this morning. 255. All I had had before testing was a zero sugar energy drink... could that effect it? Or could juice and fruit from 7 hrs earlier still have it up? I usually am around 90 that time of morning... even with having a diet soda before testing. Always wake up with dry mouth.

I like art, but it's hard to do every time I want something sugary... I could try to do more salty or savory snacks, I guess.

Figured out the numbers tho. Talked to the nurse at church and I'm on a steroid for my allergies and asthma. There's dust or smoke blowing in from somewhere and it's really messing with my breathing. This morning was the first check since starting them. She said that's it and to not even waste the supplies checking it unless I feel really off.

the trouble with that philosophy, Child, is that there are very few warning signs when your blood sugar is too high.... but if one watchs what is eaten very carefully, one can do a good job of 'guestimating'. best wishes~!

I went ahead and checked it this morning anyway. It was lower than yesterday but still higher than normal.
