Hope everything went well at the dentist Deejay.

I find that porridge/oatmeal for breakfast and fruit during the day at some point helps the digestive system unaluna.

Thanks for the picture of the Cannas Gus. Some of my plants are just poking their head above the soil now. This time I put in pick ones and red ones. Yep another appointment done and dusted. Booked in for a hernia repair and gallbladder removal in October. Stones were picked up when they scanned the hernia. Apparently diabetes can impact our gallbladder. I did not know that.

How long have you been on it? Do you get the sense as your body adjusts to it, the nausea will subside?

Possum~ i have heard that removal of the gall bladder is often unnecessary, and can have serious consequences to your digestive system. i used an herbal tea, called Licorice Root Tea (which doesn't taste like licorice ), to dissolve and remove left over drugs from my system. it is specifically recommended for gall stones and kidney stones. you have to watch your potassium levels while on it, and it's good to supplement magnesium and calcium, too, as it can dissolve those also.

anyway, i hope you can find a way to keep you gall bladder, the more our systems are intact, the longer they last !

Did a lot of fun activities today and more importantly I did my exercises before I left the house at 10:20 this morning. A small miracle for me. I am hoping I am finding a new workable schedu!e. My pain is so much improved after I do them. One would think I would do them everyday upon rising but morning is tough enough just to wake up.

I have been on it for a month. I don't think the nausea will subside. I don't know if I am going to be able to continue on it.

I like the sound of Licorice Root Tea and I also like Licorice flavour. The more I google it the more I see that gallstones are often only picked up because of ultrasounds for other issues like hernias. If I didnt have the hernia I would be none the wiser about the stones. My Mum did have her gallbladder removed when she was in her 50's because of problems but I still wonder if I am doing the right thing. I also am concerned about having no gallbladder how it will affect my digestive system. Mind you the Surgeon said he had another patient that had theirs removed and that person did lose weight. It's not like I can't afford to drop some poundage. I dunno. Maybe I should go and ask my GP.

Possum if the gall stones are just there but not causing a problem why do anything. One day they MIGHT cause an issue and you can then have surgery when you need it.

The surgeon said that the surgery would be much more complicated if an infection/issue in the gallbladder did arise. Maybe surgeons are quicker to whip things out than taking a less drastic measures. Still got a while to decide. Hmmm.

had to go to the doc, today, to get a liver enzyme blood test, for a new med i'm on (temp); wrote a letter about my Met/Glyp not doing the job, and she put me on a 'sustained release' insulin called Lantus... anyone ever hear of it?
i have to find a way to pick it up this week, not a good time for that....

my cousin, who's been helping me, has her dad's funeral this week. she took care of him for 4 years. for the past year i have been 'helping' her, by using my observational and personal skills to understand what he was going thru. he was in hospice the last 4 month, and had a visiting nurse who didn't explain things to my cousin. he was totally 'out of it, the last 3 months.

then she's going to send her mom to stay with her brother and she's taking 6 weeks off! i told her to take 8, but the brother has plans,,, he hasn't been any help, and now he's talking about "OUR" property and money, insurance,,, the DOG.

anyway, my little stinkers got in the house this morning just before dawn and woke me up; i had to get up and chase 3 of them out of the house... they didn't put up much of a fuss LOL, one of them is the little Squirrelly who's mother kicked her out of the shed, so now she's living under the house. O.O

but what i wanted to ask, also, my BS was 115 at 6 a.m. and i didn't have anything to eat or drink til i got home at 1 p.m., when i retested it was 149! does anyone else have this happen, that exercise makes their blood sugars go UP ?? and also, i feel FAMISHED, ready to cram donuts - hungry... the higher my BS the hungrier i feel.... it's all so strange.

i have mixed feelings about using any kind of injectable insulin, but these 'pens' are preloaded, just dial a dose, and jab... i'll try to keep you informed on how it treats me...

I used to take lantus along with regular fast acting insulin. The lantus worked well while it did.

Hello Possum,They did a scan of my whole abdomen area and gall bladder about nine years ago and told me I had gall stones,I said, ' are you going to remove them'?,they said, no,we only remove them if you have pain,I haven't had pain,so they are still in there!Do you have pain, might your operation not be necessary?

Exercises done two days in a row even with work. Hope I am getting into a routine.Never did I think that 12 hours a week of work could be so time consuming a d disruptive to the exercise schedule. I have clearly lost ground this summer even before I started work because it's been so hot and humid. Weatherman said this will be the hottest August on record.

Gus, I have to ask, who or what are those little stinkers that got into the house? Cats or maybe Skunks ? Hope this Lantus stuff is working out okay for you and evens things out.

Thanks Marilyn. After I wrote my last post on here I was panicked by it all that I rang my gp and he said that removing the gall bladder was a very reasonable thing to do in my case. Today I learned that the surgeon had sent a letter regarding my hernia and gallstones to my GP, P'doc and Therapist. How thorough. Anyway the hernia is got fluid in it and does need fixing and apparently my Gallbladder is so choc a block of stones that it is non functional. He wants to be proactive rather than wait for things to go bad. So now I just need to wait until the surgery. I am still nervous though.
Deejay - Wish I could take a leave from your book and get my exercise in. Yesterday I put the first round of fertilizer on the roses. Stinky but effective. Hope the expected frost didnt get to the new growth too much.

I have given up checking my sugar levels. Too hard basket.

Hi hope i may post as a spouse.
My wife has type 1 diabetes - as a result she also has end stage renal disease (kidney failure,) gastroparethsis, diabetic retinopathy (currently blind in one eye, but this should be temporary,) steal syndrome, neuropathy, high blood pressure, prolonged QT count, as well as bipolar and anxiety. I poked around here for support when she started dialysis, but didn't find any specific.
I don't know a lot about the metabolic related meds, but am knowledgeable about blood sugar, insulin, insulin pumps, other supplies, diabetic ketoacidosis, and related diseases/disorders. (As they relate to my experience, everyone is individual )
As a side note, my wife had her gall bladder out a few years ago. I think it was a good idea, because of where it connects in the digestive tract, and how it block, press on, or leak causing disturbance. Especially if it is, or becomes enlarged. Her surgery was able to be done laproscopically (sp? - sry!) so small incision and short recovery time.
