i stand corrected ,,, stevia is the plant from which the sweetener is made.
i did read the fine print, and it says it has 3 cals from carbs (or was it 4 ?). very little in my book~

does anyone else find that exercise makes their blood sugar double ?
or that the higher the blood sugar level, the hungrier they are ?

i feel weird, like i'm the only one who experiences that.....

I tend to find that exercise lowers my sugar levels.

I was misdiagnosed as a type 2 diabetic in 2010 at the age of 38. I was put on Metformin, but it had strange effects on me, including severe weight loss. It didn't even make a dent on my diabetes, so I was immediately put on insulin and then referred to an endocrinologist by my new PCP. Once by the fall of 2014, I got to see my endocrinologist and got tested, it was found that I was really a type 1, not a type 2. I had tested positive for the GAD antibodies that were attacking my pancreas. So thankfully, that automatically approved me to get an insulin pump. I got my insulin pump, which I seriously love it because it makes my diabetes management so much easier. Before my pump, I was seriously running out of places to inject due to my fibromyalgia and the fact that I was too thin. Now, I have my weight back. My A1C is about 6.8, which is pretty good. i have other medical issues that I deal with that makes my life utter crap, but I try hard not to let all that get in the way, but it's really hard because there are days when I can't even get out of bed. I'm trying so hard just to live at the fullest, period. I can't really do all that much. My chronic fatigue syndrome is always smacking me upside in the head, pretty much, and that drives me completely nuts. But I keep plugging on as much as I can. And I jump into my little adventures to jumpstart myself. LOL.

Thanks for that recipe, I looked it up online. I'll try your recipe too, since I have the coconut oil. I still didn't get around to making one yet though! Gus, I find my blood sugars don't really go down with exercise, maybe its because I'm not going outside. Housework is exercise to me, but that's because I don't go for walks too much in the winter.
I've tried stevia years ago and I didn't like the taste. I don't like the artificial sweeteners too much. I drink my coffee and tea without sugar. Just a bit of milk and cream. I still think that having high cortisol is part of my problem with blood sugar. I have high cholestoral too... was supposed to get the gallbladder out years ago but it turns out I'm doing fine with it still in.
If I need something a bit sweet, I just use plain table sugar. I've been doing better with my eating better foods for me ,so I'm just a bit proud of myself for trying harder. Best wishes to you all.

thanks for the replies... and i can SO relate to what you said, Wings....
i don't talk about all the other stuff i deal with, like hypoxia and sleep apnea and spinal stenosis, and chronic fatigue (PTSD),,,, it's all just minimized my life for me, so that a simple phone call is a big deal~~

The mug cake. I made it again a few days ago but I used powdered peanut butter in place of the cocoa powder. It was good. I liked it better than with the cocoa powder but it contains more carbs and calories. Just puttin' it out there.

i'm on the hunt for a new M.D. to help me with my diabetes meds. i have finally begun to understand the importance of carbs in my 'peaks and valleys'. i think my body is failing me more and more, and i very much need to get back some control, or at least influence, over my weight. of course, winter used to be my 'exercise season', because the snow forced me to get out and sweep or shovel. this winter we have had so little snow, i haven't gotten my work-outs.

over every mountain is another mountain.... sigh....

I'm not doing well. My sacroiliac joints are hurting again and, not to complain, but i managed to sprain a calf muscle. I did try the keto mug, but couldn't find almond flour. Just rice. It wasn't bad but seemed dry. I used butter not coconut oil.. it was good though. My sugars aren't bad. I'm so tired.

i have made mexican (with cumin and cayenne chili) vegetable soup (with left over beef roast in it), and i'm finding that i can eat all i can hold for 350 calories~! i use beef broth for a base, for flavor, and taters, onions, carrots, celery, bell peppers (tomatoes optional) for the veggies. it's really delish,,, i add some garlic powder just because everything tastes better with garlic and salt and black pepper at the table. (Only cook til it boils, for 20 minutes, unless you want mush.) i like it al dente.

we got freezing temps, ferocious winds, and finally 6 inches of snow~!
color me happy~

According to this Bipolar thread - fasting might help Type II diabetes:

https://forums.psychcentral.com/bipo...g-bipolar.html

The recommendations in this video helped a family member (Type II) bring his blood sugars down consistently and lose weight. He does not go hungry. He did not change his medication (metformin and glipizide) but is not on insulin:

Thanks hoping...
It does work to eat more fat... but i have hallstones so there's another problem. Interesting and helpful. I'm fairly sure my sugars are always high in the morning because of stress, anxiety, it raises cortisol. I've lost weight but nothing is likely to cure it after this many years. I hope people that are just diagnosed watch that ted talk video.

Gus, you do realize that beans and tortillas are carbs? Check out the labels.

Beans are mainly fiber though. We need to look at net carbs not just carbs. Carbs minus fiber equals net carbs.

[you do realize that beans and tortillas are carbs?]

i do believe i clearly stated i was counting beans and torts as carbs.
the important thing i have learned is that we are all different in the way we process foods, and metabolize meds. that is why i believe so strongly in charting my intake and doses. my docs cannot seem to understand that the 60% of people who make up the "Norm" on the Bell Curve leave 40% to be mistreated.

my body 'likes' beans, takes it's time breaking them down, leaves my sugars lower than the torts, which contain lipids (fats) and processed white flour (neither of which are good for me). ditto for corn products and multi-grain breads; better than cereal for me. apples are better snacks for me than carrots, even tho the chart says i'm getting the same amount of sugars, there is something different about them.

i urge people to not rely heavily on 'mass population statistics', but to find out what is actually happening inside your OWN body. cater to your own needs.
