you are a positive inspiration, DJ~! good on you,, and those flowers are just beautiful~!

it takes weeks to get things done around here,,, it can take the mail 6 days to go 300 miles~ O.O then the recordings have to be analysed,,, the agency who is handling all this is so busy it takes them 3 days to return a phone call....
a friend who also has a CPAP told me how to adjust the pressure settings myself, but if i do that before i have the machine tested, and i break it, or blow up my lungs,,,, well, i hesitate....

i too have been moving around,, i cleaned the stove~! omg, some parts hadn't been cleaned in ages, i won't say years, cause i'm embarrassed~ but there is a lot of bending and stooping involved, which i always try to avoid. anyway, i'm not done yet, and not very sore this morning, which is quite a surprise. maybe this energy will last long enough for me to vacuum...

You have no idea how much I love this.

We have stray cats in the neighborhood, and we finally caught one to keep inside after several weeks of feeding. In the meantime, the other cat is too feral to get near, but it comes around mewing in a deep voice to demand food through the sliding glass door.

We have discovered that cats aren’t the only thing getting the cat food. Oh my gosh raccoons are adorable. I know you aren’t supposed to feed them. I guess between the cat food and the bird seed, they’ve been chowing in my back yard.

Hi all,

My pdoc sent me to my regular doc to get back on track. My meds caused me to gain about 20 pounds and pushed my A1c up again. I have to look, I think I’m pushing 7 on the A1c. It used to be much lower and much higher.

I have a doc that is well known in the paleophere that put me on low carb in 2003. I lost a lot of weight—about 70 pounds slowly over several years. I never lost more than 15-20 pounds in any one year on his low carb Paleo diet. I got my A1c from 9.3 to 5.7 or so. Now I’ve gone backwards.

Darn meds.

Anyway, there is nothing to respond to here. I’m just saying hi and reading for some inspiration to get back on track.

Have to say that I fully expect and deserve a rise in my levels when I see the doc next week. It just wont be in the 5's range. Struggling with other medical stuff right now..... hmmm.

Pleased that you got another walk in Deejay. I have tried using a walker but find that my feet kick against the wheels so it's not very practical. Kudos to you Gus for cleaning the oven. That is a moo cow of a job. The owners installed a brand new oven here recently and I am to scared to use it much because if it gets dirty it will need cleaning and I can't reach all the way inside because it is up too high.

I am trying to decide if I go for a walk this afternoon or rake up the leaves from the fruit trees. I wish that the trees would do one massive dump of the leaves so it wouldn't seem like a job that lasts for months.

Got some corn kernels for salad yesterday yay.

Seroquel is not good for sugar levels but can't live without it. Hope you can find some motivation Keytones.

Another beautifu! day! I got out for my "walk". If it doesn't rain tomorrow I will be e walked the whole street up and back. Just under a 1/4 mile. Without bragging I am very proud of myse!f. It's a challenge on the walker- very tough on my shoulders. Got all my strengthening in today as well as went through my summer clothes to donate and trash. I am pooped right now!! God is good guys!!! Thanks for being here to keep me accountable and honest. Keep in moving around guys! Every little bit helps (I hope!).

you are right about that oven cleaning stuff, DJ~! i spoke too soon about not being very sore,,, i kept working on it, and tried to use it too soon, and smoked up the house and maybe scorched the oven door~! O.O i didn't even know that was possible,,,, so now i'm soaking the broiler pans, which took most of the baked on crud... and and barely get up to sit down on the pot...

hahahaha,,, will keep trying to keep moving... i'm beginning to think that i had a serious vitamin D deficiency which was contributing to my poor health~! anyway, that is the only major thing which has changed in my diet (since salads), and i'm feeling much better~ {good doc, nice doc}

here's something odd, maybe someone can comment ??
i tested before going to bed last nite, bsl= 118; tested when i got up this morning, bsl=167~!! waaaaaaat's going on with that ? i know 30 units increase from the liver dump is not unusual, but 50 points ?? wow,, not happy i can tell you~!

(((Gus))) i only take januvia (nightly), not insulin. So i really just look at even my daily readings as trends, esp my morning reading. It tends to stay fairly consistent per my weight (+ or -10 lbs) and my exercise.

Gus,
I have a self cleaning oven and although the oven doesn't need it yet, I am scared to try it out! Don't know why...just maybe scares me a little because it's gas.

Good on you Deejay for getting into the swing of the exercise thing. Getting out of the house seems to be beneficial psychologically too as it takes the focus from what's inside our head to another place.

Yesterday the garden won and the leaves got raked from under the fruit trees and the driveway also had a sweep. Pesky starlings seem intent on tossing the leaves everywhere in the pursuit of getting the bugs for a feed.

Hope the smoke in your house has cleared. Kudos to you Gus for doing some spring cleaning too. I don't know what's up with those reading Gus. Maybe you can ask the good doctor a question or five about it.

Gus - I’ve noticed that happens to me the morning after a day where I eat more than I usually do, even if it was only meat and eggs/all low carb that doesn’t raise blood sugar.

No walk today...I've been rained out. Did my strengthening and very light housework. Got all my summer clothes and winter others switched over. That's probably why it's cold and rainy today.
I wish I had the money to buy some test strips. I guess I would like to see a visual of my progress or how high it goes when I eat dessert. We are going out for ice cream after church tonight. Dessert twice a month in light of my exercise has kept my a1c normal as well as my fasting blood sugar. The estimated blood sugar very borderline at 122, but that is down from the 140's. Honestly, I can't picture a life without mocha chip ice cream.

well, i've been resting for 2 days... almost over being sore, now. some little voice says i should get back and finish that stove, but the reality is ... just sitting. last nite one of my cats frightened (he likes to do that) a skunk on the porch, so i got a good dose of stink in the house,, it's still with me, in spite of Air Fresh~!

didn't get to sleep til dawn this morning, finally took a pill... when will i learn not to do that ??? now i'm all dopey. but i have that restless leg stuff, and when it 'kicks off', i just can't stand it. still waiting to hear from that sleep study agency, the guy calls, and before i can get to the phone, he hangs up without leaving a message,,, i hate phone tag. and not knowing. aaaarrrgggghhhhh~!

i checked my log, and my bsl's don't go up after a day of many calories. actually, the only thing i've been able to correlate it to, is exercise. O.O i asked the pharmacist why my bsl goes up after exercise, and she said: "cause your weird". we got a good laugh out of that~ i get such anomalous readings sometimes, that i have about decided that my pancreas is working intermittently, like the rest of my life. guess i'm a little down this morning, and i don't even have rain to blame

i need to do some (like 8 loads) laundry before i put away my winter clothes, i'm sitting here freezing now, because i've turned off the heaters. usually the house stays warm enough for sleeping (i like it cool) , but getting up can be tricky.... layers..........

hope you all have a good day~! it's lovely outside my window~

Your sugar doesn't go up because you're so good a adjusting your meds when you eat a little more. Could that be it?

Yah, DJ, i'm curious to see what my new doc will say when she realizes what i'm doing O.O i did warn her,, she said: do what you think is best.... gads, i like that in a doc~!

today i got a surprise call from my cousin, it's her roomy's b'day, she got him a lemon merangue pie, and he gave me some organic pecans from his sister's orchard in eastern CO... they were delicious, but my batch had a lot of rotten ones in it... them's the chances you take when you go with private orchards...
of course, i forgot to take my meds with me, wasn't actually expecting that pie, and a root beer float to go with, made with low-fat frozen yogurt, VERY GOOD stuff.... bsl's of 225 when i got home 2 hrs later,,, not so bad,,, took my meds and a nap that lasted 5 hrs O.O ... i'm so easily exhausted, and only got 4 hrs sleep this morning, up til dawn... again. :zzzzzzzzzz:

hope you all had a good day,,, it is Definately Spring~! my little lilacs seem to have survived that snowfall. i can hardly wait, then they only last a couple of weeks or less,,,

Couldn't resist Gus. Have to say I have never had the pleasure knowing what skunk stink is like but it must be horrid. Maybe your cat has scaring it on the to do list.

Phone tag is a pain in the butt. Next time you will get lucky? I love the view from your window. I am pleased that you had a visitor. They are a nice distraction.

Today I had another medication added to the list and the doctor said that it would increase my appetite..... Hmmm.

Very tough getting started today. Had to call my spouse for some motivation. I parked my car to walk. Luckily he has a job that has made him very good at motivating people. It was just really hard because I got only 5.5 hours of sleep. I new I had to do it because he took me out for mocha chip ice cream. Thats kind of the deal I made with myself. Got the strengthening in. Its already 68 here today a sunny. The daffs are out in full bloom. It's a beautiful day.

Sorry about The skunk Gus. I have cats but they have never been outside. Today I will open the Windows that get the afternoon sun. They love that! Hope that lemon meringue pie was good. I prefer a more tart one than sweet. My mother in law is 83 and she quit baking and pretty much cooking I think.

i am grateful that i never learned to bake~! omg, some of theeee worst things come out of the oven~ worst for diabetics, best for tongues

yessss, it was the best lemon meringue pie i'd ever tasted, creamy and tart with a huge layer of meringue~! and then the pecans were twice as good as any i had ever tasted before~

Lemon meringue pie is my favorite. It is always in the freezer at the grocery store. I try to wait until i find one that isnt frozen. But sometimes they fool ya - i think the last one i got, they had just taken out and i simply assumed it was fresh. Who could ever suspect a lemon meringue pie would be so conniving?!

Everything has been a huge effort today. I got my walk in by walking around the market after ishopped. I did my other exercises but again huge effort to get myself to do it. Just a bit disgusted with myself today. On the good side I found a petite rose Bush at the market. My gram used to have one on her kitchen table every summer and it was a great memory so I bought it and put it in my kitchen. Hopefully the cats remain uninterested!

i, too, find the miniature, or Tea Rose, to be incredibly attractive~!
i hope you know to transplant any potted plant you get from the market into a bigger pot and feed it RIGHT AWAY~! as they are sent out the moment they need some care.... do keep us posted on it's blooming schedule~ ??

well done for using what's available, for walking DJ ... i rarely walk at the market these days, because of the oxy tank, and my lack of stamina... if i ride in the little cart i use less oxy... it's turned into a very bad habit, but now the little bus has changed it's schedule and route, it's even more difficult for me to get to the market and home without help. (yes, we have one -- 10 passenger bus -- that drives around in a circle for an hour.)

i've taken a long break from my oven cleaning, half-way done, so there is no using my oven~ i'm trying to make that a motive for finishing, but instead i just keep finding things that don't need to be baked O.O oh well, at least i've learned (mostly) to not beat myself up for being me~ doing real good on my calories and bsl's, glad for that.... hope you all are too~!
