Right so new alters forming is always very disorienting and stuff. Well today we had a new alter form and apparently he's very confused. I mean I don't blame him, splitting off is confusing in itself but I'll get to explaining who he is in a second anyway...I just am not really sure how to help him or explain things to him. He's based off a character but I think he understands he's not actually a fictional character. I feel that just adds to the confusion.
Anyway I'll give you ten seconds to guess who he is...1...2...3...4...5678910. It's Link. Yes that Link. Not sure if he's from any one game in particular, but he said he's 17 so.....Well I don't know much about him at this point. He seems just as quiet as the character though. TBH I'm not terribly upset by this. I love video games and I love him as a character, and if it had to be a fictive at least he's a good guy. But I mean he's still very confused.

Im also confused because for me it wasnt possible for alters be be automatically created from imaginary game characters. you can read more about how I became DID in my thread called integration. but the short version in order for my alters to have been created I had to dissociate due to extreme trauma,....

like betty Im wondering if you are going through some sort of extreme trauma, if so you can contact your treatment providers or the local police department who can stop who ever is subjecting you to such extreme trauma that its resulting in you dissociating to the extreme of creating alters.

there is also a crisis box at the bottom of the page that has numbers and such for people who are going through a major crisis problem.

on the other side of things do you mean you are creating imaginary friends from games... if so your treatment providers can help you with this, there are some great medications out there that can help you to not to create alters like this from games and such.

my point is there are many different kinds of alters and your treatment provider can help you to understand which of your alters are dissociative type or other kinds and get you treated so that you dont have to be so scared that this is going to keep happening.

I had made a post that was above amandalouise's but then deleted it because of a trigger I had put in it.Thought I should explain that in case anyone wondered why I was mentioned(sorry amandalouise).

I had given an example of a type of severe trauma that could cause an alter to be created in adulthood by someone that's already DID.They don't just randomly form out of the blue.So I was concerned and confused by your post rise13eyond.

Oh I feel like it's really complicated. I don't know how long it's been going on. I don't remember when the first alter appeared. I do know when some did though. And some of them...3 of them including Link, have come about this year. But I know the others have been around longer. Again not sure how long there's a lot of speculation from my family and therapist about that. But why all these new ones now within such a close time frame? That's something we've been working on. My therapist and everyone.
I'm not going to go through my entire life, or my current life now, and dissect every aspect of it.
One alter I am pretty sure was caused by specific trauma. Because I know when she formed and I know what was going on at the time.
I'm not as concerned right now with the how and why, as I am what I can to to help everyone get along.

I wasn't asking or expecting you to go through your entire life, your current life or to dissect every aspect of it.I was just confused and concerned and trying to understand your post so that I would know how to respond.

I'm still not sure whether you're talking about alters that have been there since childhood and you're just now becoming aware of them or if these alters are forming and developing now in the present. But if you're not concerned about it I guess all I can do is wish you luck with helping everyone get along and say I hope your therapist can help you accomplish that.

Hugs

thank you for answering alwayschanging question of whether this alter can be called an introject.

now I understand your post better because introjects dont just happen in very early childhood and can happen with just about any mental and physical health problems. and they can happen out of no where. just out of the blue come into being.

I had a few of these kinds of alters. what introjects are is when a persons mind creates a kind of alternate personality that is a copy of someone else in the persons life. most times they are the abusers in a persons like, someone who has bullied or otherwise abused, threatened punished the victim.

one of my introject alters came into being as a way to follow the abusers code of do not tell. this alter was to coin the phrase a carbon copy of my abuser, if I even thought of telling someone about the abuse this introject would start putting me down, threatening me and in some cases retaliate against me in order to keep me following the abusers code.

Another one of my introjects came into being in high school as a result of high school bullying, this alter was a carbon copy of the bullies. any time something good in my life would happen this alter would pop up to put me down and make me feel worthless, low self esteem again just like the high school bullies did.

in my younger college days I had a very rude and dis respectful professor. this professor was so emotionally stressful that every test time a carbon copy of him called an introject would spring into being, just to harass me during my studies for the tests.

the key to this kind of alter is to counter the negative with the positive. work with my treatment providers to understand why they were just popping into being (because deep down I believed what my abusers told me and deserved to be punished in this way.)

Eventually thanks to great meds and working with my treatment providers I now know I am not what the abusers thought of me and I dont deserve to punish myself by having abusers in my life, whether those abusers are actual abusers or through introjects.

my suggestion is if this introject continues to bother you and you continue to have introjects popping into your life out of the blue contact a mental health treatment provider who can get you on the right kind of anti psychotic meds while working with you to understand why unconsciously you need this kind of abusive, stuff in your life.
