in my thread "integration" betty made a great point that got me thinking.... from her post.........

"A common thing I found all over the internet was the different definitions of what integration is.For example what some consider integration is what I call co-consciousness and cooperation.I was corresponding with someone that told me they had reached full integration yet they were talking about their alters and I asked them"I thought you were fully integrated" and they said they were. That wasn't/isn't my experience at all and our conversations just kind of dwindled until we stopped all contact.

That would actually be an interesting thread topic or interesting for others to discuss in this thread, what integration means to them, what they think it means, etc."

my answer in my thread was no because I wanted to keep that thread a place for those of us who have or are going through the physical and mental process of integration to post about what we went through and learned in the process.

since Betty posted that, I have been considering something...

we dont have a separate board for integration discussions.... things like questions about it, what it means to each of us, our processes, fears about it and so on and what happens afterwards.

I asked Doc john to consider adding an integration sub forum board and I was also wondering what you all thought of this.

please keep this thread on track of whether you feel it would be good to have a sub forum for integration.

my own views is that ...

it will help those going through it feel more freer to post on this issue and going through it, and the after affects of it,

it can be a place for anyone who may have questions or want to discuss this part of DID

and it will prevent that sudden slap in the face some members get when out of the blue a thread gets thrown in about this issue (if we had this new board all threads posts and questions about integration will be in its own board. instead of mixed in with other threads)

sorry folks looks like there isnt enough people actively posting about integration to get a new dissociative section for integration issues, questions and such which means continuing to post about this in the regular dissociative boards. it was worth a try. lol maybe some day down the road it will happen.

Well I'm glad you tried.

I feel a little upset about it though,I feel there should be a sub forum for integration whether there's much interest or not.Integration is something that is discussed during therapy for everyone that's DID(I am assuming that's true) and it's not right for it to not seem important enough to be allowed it's own sub forum.

There may not be enough interest right now but I do believe it would be used, especially newcomers that have questions about it.Or for those that just want to discuss it,both good and bad.

Or there should at least be a ''DID success stories" sub forum if nothing else, just like there's "anxiety success stories" ,"autism success stories",ADHD success stories",etc. sub forums. There doesn't seem to be much interest in any of them judging by the activity in them yet they still exist.

I agree with you. but I also understand why right now the word is no not at this time and to continue using the general forum board.

I think of it this way, psych central is free and its bound to take some work to add new forum boards. there has to be a line somewhere in determining how much the servers and such can handle. if theres only going to be two of us posting right now about integration, and a rare question popping in then its probably not worth the money time and labor to build another section into this website.

the way its determined is someone lets doc John know they would like a new forum, then he goes to the forum where the sub forum would be located if one gets approved, (in this case dissociative disorders main forum board) he checks out to see how many posts are about the topic for the new forum board, whether those presently participating in the forum are discussing the topic. if not no board if so a new board is created.

I have no doubt ........someday................ there will be an integration board here just like the garden and teens but until then we make due with what we have we post about integration in the main dissociative board.

I think there may be others interested: I would be. I don't get on this forum daily, but I would read and probably sometimes contribute. I think this group is small. I see that right now there are only 16 people on this forum, and only 3 who are not anonymous.

I know that I read the forums for a while before I started posting, and even though I wasn't posting, it was helpful.

thanks. I also see that there is interest in integration and having an integration board.

I can also understand those that are going through it and have integrated their alters feel like they need to stay anon to protect others that are not at this stage of healing.

unfortunately if no one else is willing to post on their integration issues then how does that show we want and need an integration board. it doesnt.

the request was done and doc john did his process and the determination at this time is no new board.

maybe some day there will be more than just Betty and I willing to put ourselves out there and post about integration issues so that there will be an integration board here like I have found on other websites.

again if anyone feels they would like an integration board just saying it is not going to get it. At this time there isnt enough postings in the general dissociation forum to warrant a new board for integration, if we need this new board we need to show we need it by posting about integration and our integration issues in the regular dissociative boards.

I think there would be more discussions about integration if there were more discussions about it.LOL

I kind of get the feeling there are members who do have thoughts ,questions, fears, etc about it but they don't feel comfortable enough to post about them,or maybe they don't really feel safe enough to.It's a tough subject to talk about whether a person is DID,is going through the integration process or they are fully integrated and I think it's important members feel safe and comfortable enough to do so.

Anyone have any suggestions that would help with that?

'They' dont want to do it and even if they did there aren't many specialists who would know how to help.

Why should 'we' have to integrate? Things are fine as they are.

Thank you for posting possum. in this thread we are not asking whether you want to do integration or not.

we are asking others opinions on whether psych central should have an integration forum separate from the general dissociation forum.

example like there is a teen aged alter forum here and a Garden forum here for people to get away from the hard topics.

I asked Doc John to consider a new forum for dissociation area called integration. at the same time I posted this thread so others could post whether or not they would be interested in having a new forum for integration issues, so that those of us that are going through it or have questions have a place where we feel comfortable posting about these things and not trigger those like you that dont want anything to do with it.

Example if we had a separate forum for integration you wouldnt have to see integration threads mixed in with all the other threads.

heres an idea maybe you can start a thread about how you .......dont........want to be integrated.

Hi. I'm new. I'm new to all of this. I would *very much* appreciate a dedicated space to talk about integration. If we can't talk about it here, where the heck can we talk about it?

I know my input doesn't matter much because this is my first post, but it was one of the things I was hoping to find when I joined.

People who aren't comfortable with the idea of integration obviously won't frequent that area, which I respect. But where do those of us who really want to talk about it go to speak freely?

your input matters whether its your first post or your thousandth. welcome aboard and thanks for letting us know you are interested in having an integration board.

your question where can you talk freely?... anywhere. on the index page you will see lots of forums and their sub forums.

some people post in one forum that fits them and others like me with many mental and physical health problems and like to help others dont limit their self to just one forum.

do what makes you feel most comfortable and post where and how and what makes you feel most comfortable.

as for where to post integration issues since right now there isnt a separate integration forum we just post in the general dissociation forum where all kinds of dissociation threads and posts go (the same forum where you found this thread)

again welcome to psych central and the dissociative boards and thanks for letting us know how you feel about having an integration forum board.

edit

forgot to answer your question of where else we can talk about integration... one of the site rules is we are not supposed to be encouraging others to go to other website forums. or promote other website forums.

( the guildeline page says "Please refrain from posting links to other communities solely in order to solicit other members to that community. " found here where the rules and guidelines are for psych central Community Guidelines )

which means we cant post about where you can go elsewhere to talk about integration.

that said you can google on your own any of your own problems and find many forums out there and try them and decide what fits you.

Hi kbonnie ii- welcome to PC!

That’s a great post and your voice is just as valid as being a daily user of which I hope becomes a usual one.

Why not just post and start threads on the subject here on this forum? It’s really like it’s not going to get too buried too quickly I suppose.

I’m more a reader then a poster I soppose...and having threads on the subject certainly would be enticing.
