I think you'll have to ask them that.

It sounds pretty messed up to me.It's been many years since your old psychologist diagnosed you.It sounds like complete BS to me that they're just going to stick with a diagnosis that doesn't even exist anymore and claim you can't be tested because you're on too many meds.

Have you really thought about what you are asking (repeatedly)? If you went to a medical doctor many years ago and were told you had strep throat and then went to a new doctor recently because you were ill and the new Dr talked to your old doctor and they were telling you it's strep throat, they were sticking to the old diagnosis without testing you, what would you do?

I'm sorry but what you are saying sounds as silly as the strep throat scenario I just wrote out.Do you want to get better or just keep going in circles?Something's not right about this entire thing.Either you are misunderstanding and have it all confused or they are clearly not qualified to treat you and need to be reported and you need to find new treatment providers. You can keep asking the same things in different ways over and over but it's not going to change anything.

Seek out a new therapist and psychologist if this is really what they're doing.

I'm sorry to sound so harsh but this all sounds so messed up and doesn't make sense at all.

I just remembered you have said repeatedly you don't want to see anyone new.So my question is what do you want to do exactly?

You can stay with the treatment providers you have and go along with the treatment they want to provide in the hopes of getting better. But in order to do that you must actually let them treat you instead of fighting against them, what they think and what they say and begin the work of healing. You can't heal if you're always in the obsessive states you are in.

You can stop going altogether. That doesn't sound like a good idea though.

What is it exactly you are wanting and expecting? It seems like you need to make some decisions.

Well I really dont want to start over with anyone new. I have only clicked with a few therapists my whole life. Unforunately the one I really liked has passed. I will be getting more clarity on all of this in the upcoming weeks hopefully. I dont know what to do now that my old psychologist has suggested not retesting because of medication because if I was retested by someone else that would be in the back of my mind.

I understand that you really don't want to start over with anyone new but maybe you need to.Sometimes we gotta take the bull by the horns, step out of our comfort zone and do what we gotta do in order to help ourselves.

You didn't answer my question...

What would you do?

Of course you would go see a different doctor and think the one that's going by the old diagnosis of strep throat is a quack, right?

I dont really understand what retesting would do for me though. It might make it worse because then I will be l8ke ok two people told me yes and one is telling me no. The lady that diagnosed me the first time that said she wont retest is supposed to be the best in my area with dissociative disorders. She said meds can make it hard to reach the parts which is why she wont retest.

Well if you don't understand what retesting would do for you then why are you asking us about getting retested?

I'm sorry but I am thinking maybe you really, really need to discuss all of this with your treatment providers.I am thinking maybe it is possible you have all of it confused and you need to get it all straightened out with them. You are contradicting yourself in every post you make and it sounds like maybe even confusing yourself more.

I have nothing further to advise or suggest other than talk to them about it.Good luck with this.

I guess there is no point in getting retested if the doctor with the most experience has already diagnosed me. Yes it doesnt exist anymore but its only changed names. Not erased all together. The reason I had mentioned it was because someone said it was I might have to be retested for it to be a valid diagnosis. I dont know how true that is. If I was retested I wouldnt trust it because of meds. So I guess I will stick with what I have got.
