I had a phone session instead of meeting in person. Some transporation issues arose. I asked her several questions.
1) Am I dissociative as in alters or do I have normal parts everyone has- she said alters.
2) Why dont they sound like different people- she said sometimes they don't
3) How do you this isnt some other disorder- because I tested you
4) You diagnosed me DDNOS ( that doesnt exist anymore) what would I be now. She said still DDNOS which is low spectrum DID
5) Dont you have to have severe trauma to have alters - things like bullying in school can cause alters

Does this make sense?

How did she test you? Which instrument did she use?

I dont know this was at least 12 years ago. I dont remember anything about our sessions other than my diagnosis. She doesnt have my records but claims she remembers me. I have a horrible memory and I have had ECT.

I don’t know how old you are but I would definitely look at getting re-assessed if you have any doubts. I don’t believe that there is a specific instrument to “test” for DID - to my knowledge it is based on observation. Your current therapist may have a different diagnosis. (I’ve been diagnosed with everything in the DSM - so they are very subjective at best).

I am 42
I have too! Its a product of being hospitalized many times at different hospitals. My therapist says she is going to go along with whatever my old psychologist says because she has met with her and she knows more about it than her. No there is no test that I sm aware of but she said she tested me but cant tell me much beyond that.

I've been told there are standardised tests e.g. the scid-b. But I've not been tested so I'm no expert.

I'd ask for the test bby grouping or by each alter sometime it steps on toes, but other time its more helpful for outing where most need to know how to deal with you.
