So my last posts were pretty much all over the place. This one may not be any different, however this time things feel a little different. Some days have been better and others have still been hard. I've picked back up some forgotten interests which has been nice and helpful with stress. We've picked out some names for the parts I am aware of, but still trying to differentiate everyone. As of yet, I am aware of four parts in addition to myself, the current host. I have two doctors that I see. That's been going okay. I'm okay with my system, I would just love to hear from other systems, multiples, etc who are still highly-functioning in their daily lives. Luckily I work remote or else I'd be a complete mess in the office. Communication is still tough for me. Anyone have any advice on ways to talk to parts other than little sticky notes around the house?

so my first time is just let your dissociative type alters tell you who and what they are and if they decide not to then wait until they do tell you who they were created to be and what their sense of agency is. |

Good advice, thanks. I wasn't too clear in my post. We came up with two names for two sides who were only known by adjective words. They had old nicknames that my husband still uses. "We" came up with two names, the other parts already had their names. I was actually asking about tips on daily life functioning and communication if you have any tips regarding those topics?

I'm interested in this topic as well. It's highly individual. My pdoc told me he had a client with DID whose parts all identify with his given name, they were just different ages. He also told me about someone who, while he took a quick phone call, completely changed demeanor, voice, look, etc. Knowing that I didn't "have to" name parts was a relief to me. It means I don't have to squeeze into someone else's box if it doesn't resonate with me. I have some that are animals, for example. The only things I have found to help so far is talking to mysel(ves) to help sort things out, and having a sense of humor about it. Also a sense of reverence, gratitude and curiosity. Like this morning when I was driving to a medical appointment I was really freaked out about, I had a playful conversation with myself in the car, "Calling on my team" and asking for their help in getting through this. I asked "whomever it is that excels at showing up for doctors, writing notes, asking questions, etc...to please, help me out. As we ALL want to feel better. I'm looking forward to learning more about this right along with you! FearLess47 __________________ alone in a crowded room |

I guess that's been the hard part of communicating on my end, verbalizing things out loud. I'm extremely insecure of looking or sounding out of the ordinary to anyone near by. I'm willing to try it though and I'm hoping my crew will give me some brownie points for that. I'm having a hard time with concentrating and getting us all to work together with studying. It's like everyone has a good idea of what we should do at this very moment and I'm running all over the place, while my coffee is always getting cold. Does it stay like this? 50 alarms set to keep all Me's on track? As for the naming topic, the rest of us kept our nicknames that have been attached to us over the years. Two are similar in nature and will work together often so I thought it would help my husband to be able to differentiate those two. I do see what you're saying about names though and how tricky that could get. __________________ |

I just had a real laugh about the million alarms on the phone. ME TOO. It has become a joke between my husband and I...although at this moment he doesn't quite understand the meaning behind it. I, too, have several nicknames and they are mostly derivatives of my given name. While I am not there yet, it seems that there will eventually be more cohesion...so you are not constantly be-bopping from one thing to the next. I am currently in that same predicament. My psych had me load a mood app on my phone...instead of moods, I'm sort of using it to track what I am noticing in mood AND body, attention, roles, etc. I can so much relate to not being able to focus, study, etc at the exact time I want to. It's frustrating...and I have as a result given up most of my commitments except for the ones I can do on my own time. I believe we have a lot of hope for a much more peaceful future. It will take work and compassion, commitment and setbacks...but it is possible. FearLess47 __________________ alone in a crowded room |
