your question "Wth?'

people with voices are able to ask their voices why they are like they are, what is their purpose (what do they do to help you and your internal system) why are they there, what caused them to become who and what they are... all kinds of questions can be answered just by asking the voices.

this can be done regardless of what a persons mental disorder, its also part of the therapy program you are doing (IFS)

like before don't try to over think it just do what your psychologist wants you to do.. ask the voices your questions and write down the answers. if they don't give you any answer then just sit there and wait for the answer to come to you.

example when I am having my bipolar voices I can sit down and say aloud or think inside....

I hear you, but I don't understand you. can you tell me why you sound like this?

after a bit the answer comes to me. that psychosis/ delusional voice sounds like this because.

my therapist and I did these kinds of meditative exercises of relaxing and talking inside, asking inside for all kinds of alters and parts that I had due to my many mental and physical health problems that resulted in me hearing voices. (for me hearing voices was not just a dissociative thing.)

my suggestion is don't over think what your psychologist is trying to get you to do, just sit down and do it and see what happens.

like I said before we cant answer why your voices are the way they are, why you think the way you do, only you and your treatment providers can do that because the answers are all inside you. it just takes time and work to find those answers. theres no easy fix, you have to do the work to get anywhere in this. So do what your treatment providers want you to do.

Yes, I understand all that. What I am confused about is why she has not diagnosed me with schizophrenia. She keeps telling me I have DID. Why if it were DID alters do the voices sound like robots. That's not even a human. I have never heard of DID person hearing robotic voices. I have heard of schizophrenics saying there voices sound like robots.

Im sorry only the one that diagnosed you can tell you how and why they diagnosed you as something.

hearing robot voices is not a schizophrenia thing. lol someone is pulling your leg/ fooling with you.

anyone can hear a robot voice in their heads. it does not matter what mental disorder someone has, or what physical health problem a person has...anyone can hear robot voices in their heads.

my suggestion is to stop trying to compare your problems with others. for as many people there are in the world there are different ways to have robot voices. just go according to your own treatment providers and following your own treatment plans that your treatment providers are trying to do with you.

I'm just getting frustrated because everything I say she says ask your alters. Like for example today I had to make sandwhiches for the building. It's part of my job,I get paid for it. So I was in the walk in refrigerator checking the date on the mayonnaise and for no reason a thought popped in my mind that something was crawling on me. I knew nothing was crawling on me and had no sensation of such. I get these random thoughts like that, that come out of the blue. Sometimes I can link it to a child alter because earlier that morning I saw my roommates baby doll and was looking at it and a child thought popped in my mind thats a baby doll. I could tell it was a child because I could care less about baby dolls. I actually don't like them especially at night. I just know when I tell her about the thought that said I feel like somethings crawling on me she is going to say ask your alters who said that.

I used to get frustrated too when my treatment providers told me to ask my alters. mostly because I was over thinking it.

a good therapist once told me....

"don't over think this. asking alters and part is something that every human being can do and does every day of their lives...if you are not dead or in a coma your brain is thinking inside millions of thoughts every day, asking inside, asking parts, asking alters is just doing what you have always done since the day you were born.... thinking to yourself questions and answering those questions for yourself as thoughts."

then she drew a line on a piece of paper, and asked me what question did you just think to your self...

my answer.... "what is she drawing?"
therapist..... see that you just asked inside what answers to that question naturally came to you?
my answer "maybe a stick person, maybe a tree, maybe shes drawing just a line.

therapist soo that you asked inside and got answers. I was drawing a straight line.

don't over think this, asking inside, asking alters, asking parts is just normal brain activity, if you are thinking and not in some hospital in a coma you are already doing this.

now when I wake up in the morning I notice I am already thinking inside with my parts. wonder whats for breakfast? maybe Ill make pancakes, wonder if the children are up, yes they are I can hear them playing,

aloud I speak to the children "ok guys first one to the kitchen gets to pick todays breakfast, on your mark get set go, (I can hear the children heading down stairs, my wife and I get up)

my brain naturally goes back to asking inside to my parts of me.. what do I want to wear today, how about the green shirt and jeans, yea that sounds good, .,..

my point dnester if you reread your posts you will see you already are doing this your post uses the words "thoughts" "in my head"

all your therapist wants you to do is when you are thinking like this to also ask a question.....

thought from your post " something was crawling on me."I knew nothing was crawling on me and had no sensation of such."

when that happens think up a question "why did I just think something was crawling on me?"

for me if this happened to me the answer that comes to me would be the cold air from the fridge passed over me and gave me chills that felt like something crawling on me.

for you the answer may be something different.

don't constantly over think or thow a million things into the basket. your therapist is just asking you to question inside like you are thinking inside.

if you are having a thought, quietly like a thought ask why did I just think that and then wait for the answer to come to you.

the answers to how and why you think the way you do is all inside yourself, stored somewhere in your brain. all you need to do is ask yourself, and your parts and your alters questions and the answers will come to you. this isn't new its something you have been doing all your life time whether you have DID or schizophrenia or no disorder at all,

just go with it and do as your treatment provider wants you to do, when you are having thoughts ask about it and get answers from inside yourself.

great time to do what your treatment providers want you to do...

thought....

I can't eat garlic it makes my throat swell.

following your IFS therapy....

close eyes, breath, relax then ask inside (talk to yourself, your parts and your alters quietly like thinking just like you have all your whole life as thoughts...… don't over think it, this is a normal thing that everyone is able to do from the moment that they are born... thinking to their self (s)

Ok I hear you that you think I cant eat garlic because it will make my throat swell. This has never happened before, can you tell me why you think this is going to happen now?

then wait quietly for the answer to come to you why at that moment you were thinking that garlic will make your throat swell.

if the answer doesn't come to you right away, like IFS therapy you continue to wait for the answer to come to you from inside yourself.

Ok, I do this now but when I ask who said that like 10 names pop in my head. I can't have all those alters and sometimes theyre names of people I know. What's up with that? Or they just dont answer me.

Robot show as a kid or some of the movie fictive can create alters. Recordings can also from the phone especially if you have a really creative system. I'd check movie and film and those resources then proceed to education the difference between schizophrenia and did ptsd as you've done with other alters especially if the majority is convinced
