For many years I have experienced everything as unreal. Unreal, yet very alive and there are numerous personalities both inside my mind and in the worldly things I see. It seems to me that I am looking at the world through a glass window. A long time ago I diagnosed myself with derealization. There is no medication, of the thirty-plus I've been on, that changes the derealization. I finally am in therapy with M., who is definitely willing to help me with the dissociation.

Does anyone here experience derealization?

I do, although I don't always think of it that way. I describe it like the world should be in 3 dimensions, but I live in a world that's 2 dimensional. Flat. Feeling like the world is tilted; the floor is at an angle. Feeling like I'm 'light' - not floating, just light. Ringing in my ears (I hate that one.) Feeling like my head is getting larger like a balloon. You know, the usual.

Good description! For me, 2 dimensional or 4- but not the"normal three."

HI Bethrags,
I am sorry you suffer with a dissociative disorder. I do, at times. It is uncomfortable. I hope it decreases over time.

Thank you, WC. You are so kind. This "glass" derealization thing has been going on since I was a child. I'm finally, finally working on it in therapy. I have hope for the first time in half a century that I might be able to get some control over it.
