I know that DID has a huge part in why i have no idea how to read people. I know i am misreading my T, and i make up that she isnt interested anymore. Which makes me react with anger and distance. I cant help it and do so anyway. It hurts too. To think she isnt interested in me anymore. The past weeks have been about how people have hurt me, so am i just trying to "make it feel like" she has hurt me too??? If so, why!? Not understanding very much. Feel i need to distance myself from her with no texts or emails.

My DID made me a master at reading people. I knew when my father would have a psychotic episode just by a change in his vocal tone and his body language. My ability to observe people and interpret them is one of my dissociative gifts. I miss nothing and unless I am floridly psychotic I'm usually accurate. I think of my ability to read people the same way as I think of my DID, an adaptive survival skill. I use it on my psychiatrist and therapist all the time. My psychiatrist says I have exquisitely tuned radar. I didn't lose it in integration. I've just become more aware of it.

I don't think it's just a DID thing. Go read all the posts and threads here at Psych Central about therapy and therapists and you'll see many similar ones.
