Hey I was wondering if anyone can share their experience going from a meal plan to intuitive eating? I’ve been on my meal plan for the two years I’ve been in recovery. I’m at the point where it’s pretty easy and nothing really come up around it much anymore. However, it’s been a bit of a safety net for me. The times where I’ve went off it, I’ve felt like a chaotic mess, which I know is ridiculous because food should not have that much power over you. If anyone has any advice starting the intuitive eating process or just would like to share how it went for them, that would be great

Hey, I like intuitive eating, although I've never read a book about it or read philosophy, just what works for me.
First, I learned to eat and cook healthy using traditional meal plans etc. Mostly low carb works the best for me. Because we can't intuitively crave healthy meals when we don't know or aren't used to them, right? Once I felt my body had become used to healthy meals, I stopped planning and counting calories. Now it's more like "what healthy meal would I like to eat today?". I also allow myself to eat a few unhealthy things during the week, but then I try to eat more healthy on other days. It's not about counting calories or macros anymore, just keeping the balance. I found out that my body is actually less satisfied with eating junk because somehow it feels its empty calories. I do eat sweets and white bread etc, so I don't crave them. I just don't feel like eating them often. It's all a matter of habit. __________________ Complex trauma Highly sensitive person I love nature, simplicity and minimalism |

I've never tried it, kmlindgren.13, so unfortunately I don't have a lot of advice to give to you. I agree with seeker33. It's probably all a matter of habit. Just try to learn what may the healthier foods for you, and try to eat them regularly. You can eat a few unhealthy things when you're with friends or during the weekends. That way you'll still feel satisfied. Hopefully you'll get used to it sooner or later. Take all the time you need. Take baby steps. It's not easy, I know. You can do this! You're strong, I know that. I believe in you. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you
