Wildflower- I'm planning on joint weight watchers this week. I had some success with it years ago but I have trouble with staying on program when my mood plummets. But I am gonna try again. I think I will also join the weight loss challenge at work- not to win but to get weekly weights fracked. Idk. I really need to lose weight and eat healthier this year.

I can’t stick to anything when depressed. Definitely a big factor in my huge weight gain in November - December. I am definitely an emotional eater. Now I’m feeling better again so I’m hoping I can stick to this.

I recently have had a combination of depression, and some money left over at the end of the month. I should maintain my discipline and not spend it, but I have done just that. My discipline with regards to how I count calories has also taken a leave of absence. Like you, I know I should not beat myself up over anything like this, but I do. Both watching the money and watching what I eat are important to me,

@wildflowerchild25 I want to see how Weight Watchers works out for you. I do not understand their point system. The advertise that they now have even more zero point foods. They must be referring to food like raw vegetables.

I had two large slices of pizza, and a yogurt fruit smoothie. I decided to splurge and eat out. After all, it is my birthday today. How depressing. I do not want to be alone in my house right now. I just completed eating half a sandwich and soup at CoCos. The cost of ordering foods and eating in moderation tends to go well together. The waitperson asks me if I will be ordering a pie. I guess I do not have to finish it. Still, I may not order it this time.

I did weight watchers years ago and lost 25 pounds on it. It worked well for me. The points system became annoying to me so I just went back to counting calories and drinking a slim fast shake everyday. This seems to work well for me.
I've almost lost the 12 pounds I put on from the zyprexa PRN. I hate that shyt. Keeps me safe when unwell but man does it ever pack on the pounds!

I like counting calories, eating light meals and using good portion control. I just had a 335 calorie lunch - 3 oz of turkey breast, an Xtreme Wellness tortilla (one of secret weapons; they are amazing for only 50 cals) and a 39g piece of baklava. Somebody gifted me a few pieces of homemade baklava and I don't want to just toss it. Meals will get more balanced once all the goodies are gone. I found entries for baklava between 3 and 6 calories per gram, so I picked one that is about 4.5 (sugar is 4).

I got an unhealthy start to my diet by cutting back way too much. While I don't recommend doing that, a welcome side effect is that I got used to not eating all that much. I have consumed about 800 of my 1500 calories for today after eating 2 of my 3 meals. Breakfast tends to be my most calorie laden meal because I eat whole milk full fat Greek yogurt with something naturally sweet (no artificial sweeteners) to flavor it plus a banana and clementine. Dinner is where I get the most veggies, though I would have had some salad in the wrap I had for lunch had I remembered to put it on last night's grocery list. Most nights I end up having a late snack measured out to bring me up to goal.

Nice surprise this morning - 178.0, which is my new lowest weight in 4 years, beating the prior one from just two days earlier by a full pound. I expect some jitter but still trending down nicely. Yesterday was another boring day near goal.

I weigh 178 today. I have consumed about 2000 calories, lower than in recent days. I was thinking of eating a snack to bring me up just a little bit, but I do not know what would that be. I have no homemade desserts left. I did tell my daughter that I will make Mexican flan, but not right now. It involves cooking sugar which can make it difficult to clean the pot and spoon. Lets see how long I can keep it within my target of 2000 to 2300 a day now that the holidays are over with.

PS Some of those Campbell Chunky soups are real good as canned soups go. I am surprised. Up until now, I have not liked canned soup.

The only thing I have found that works is I literally have nothing but my frozen weight watchers meals, milk, breakfast drinks and drink satchels for hot drinks. Nothing else. Its the only. The only way I've been able to stop myself from binge eating whether extremely sad or extremely agitated. I also track my weight, measuring every second day...

I've tried all sorts of diets, but ultimately buy things I later regret. By having only frozen meals, even if I binge eat three of them, there's no real damage. I've also forced myself to drink more water, and drinking a water bottle full before each meal.

So far so good. Its been three months and I've lost 8 lbs

When I was most nauseous with gall bladder stuff my mom had me try chunky soup over mashed potatoes. It was a good way to get some caloriies in an d tasted good. I'm sure the potates could give you a good boost if you need one.

I need to diet too. I like eating out and eat too much sugar. I feel tired. I will try to eat some salad tomorrow and eat less sugar.

They say drinking lots of water helps weight loss, so I've been drinking a lot of water. But then the scale goes up because of water retention. WTF?

In the long run, it can help with cutting back on needless calories because sometimes we eat when it's really more thirst than hunger driving us. Plus it is hard on you to get dehydrated; drinking a fair amount of water is just a good general health practice. Some things that cause water retention can't be helped. Water retention affects the size of the weight window - the "jitter" of scale readings that you get when your base weight really isn't changing. The size of the window varies from person to person. I worry more about moving the window down than I do about where I am in the window. That's easy for me to say because my weight window is usually only a couple of pounds.

I think I have been dehydrated lately. Today is another lowest weight so far at 177.4. That's a 0.6 drop from 2 days earlier when I was a pound below 2 days before that. I am not truly losing that fast; it's just "jitter". But definitely moving in the direction I want. I doubt I see 180 or above again even if I bounce up at the next weigh in. Anyway, using today's weight I have lost 46 so far with only 12 to goal (but not really since goal will be my new upper limit; I really still need to lose 15 or more to stay below 165). I have been weighing at the optimal time while losing. Once at goal, I would really like to get below that as a "doctor's office weight" - clothes on in the afternoon. I will worry about that after I get there...

177.6 this morning only gained .5 pound while on vacation. I thought I would lose but too many pizzas and pies, some candies. It would have been much worse had I been drinking for sure.
Also I drank entire bottles of sparkling grape juice which is loaded with a ton of sugar.
Back to coffee and tea and water today.

Thanks. Two or three weeks ago, it seemed like I was stuck in the 181-182 range and I really haven't changed what I am doing. Weight loss isn't consistent even if your eating and exercise (or lack of) is consistent. Looking at it over time, it is consistent across weeks, but day to day it can be all over the place.

Getting confidence that this slower healthier rate of loss is steadily reducing my weight is a big deal. It makes it much easier to stay the course. I am looking at it in what I hope is the right way now; it may take me until late spring to get as low as I want to go, but then it will be just a slight adjustment to switch to maintenance instead of a whole different way of eating.

And a belated Happy Birthday to bizi and Tucson! I also had a birthday over the holidays, turning 59. One reason that I am so determined to get the weight off is that I want to be in good shape when I turn 60. I recently read an article that had some disturbing statistics about average life span for people who are overweight or obese in their 60s. Even having a history of being overweight or obese (too late to fix that) is a strike against you, but not as bad as still carrying the extra weight. Another sobering statistic (pun intended ) is that retirees with an alcohol problem have a lower life expectancy. So I am glad I am addressing that also. I had my 6 months "soberversity" on Christmas. As soon as the big chill moves out, I am going to start doing a lot more walking. I have my pup back home from boarding school and ready to burn off some energy. We will be walking buddies pretty much daily.

I weigh a few pounds more at 182. I do not want to get higher than this weight. So I will have to stop my recent increase in calorie intake.

I have been really frustrated because I gained about 5 lbs on my goal is to get nutrition however I can while sick rather than sticking to my healthy diet and losing weight. But some recent adjustments to non-bipolar meds showed that I did not actually gain that weight. Maybe 1-2 lbs but not 6-8. So I'm more or less holding steady even eating junk. I'm glad. I can't wait to be well enough to get back on track with this.
