I was 146.2 today. I’m not drinking a lot of liquids. So maybe I’m kind of dehydrated. I’ve had about 840 calories so far today.

Tomorrow, going to the gym early. I am not sure if I will weigh or not Friday morning. I need to be at the surgery center at 6 AM. It will probably be Tuesday before I can get a good weigh in again, with bandages off and able to shower hanging left arm straight down while out of the sling.

Did the gym. Being a little stupid with eating today. I have decided to try to severely limit sugar and pretty much wiped out my office snack stash to get started.

As far as success, my weight and fitness is great right now; best it has been in decades. But enough evidence about too much sugar is really unhealthy, even if you are keeping your weight under control and are not diabetic/pre-diabetic, is piling up that I have become convince I need to quit having nearly so much.

got home from shoulder surgery before lunch. it went well. only the labrum needed stitching, the rotator cuff will rehab okay with intact labrum. some bone spurs were also removed.

i am using sprix, choosing to walk around the opioid mine field. i have pt in 6 days. i should be able to use the hand, sling supported, as soon as the block wears off. after bandage comes off on monday, I can shower and use recumbent.

SPRIX(R) | About SPRIX
strange downside - nasal mist messes with stomach
it is now covered 100% with no copay by nearly all commercial insurance companies.

i could be paddling sooner in april than i thought if rehab goes well.

decided to go very low sugar during shoulder rehab and see how i feel about it in 3 months. no candy snacks. one serving of an offered home made dessert will be an exemption, as will finishing off some protein bars as occasional in a rush going to gym in the morning or forgot my lunch meal substitute. no canned fruit, or just about anything else pre sweetened

I went off track for a couple days. I weighed myself today and I was 151. So that’s 5 pounds in 2 days. I’m not sure how the scale will read in the morning. I had about 490 calories for breakfast. Then I had 3 pieces of fried chicken, and some fries at 11. But then I haven’t eaten anything at all since then. So I’m not sure what the scale will read, or the exact calories I ate today.

@Mountaindewed - You need to get a weight trending app. They flatten out the highs and lows and give you a better idea of where you are. Gaining and losing actual body mass is a slow process (ignoring ridiculous scenarios like eating a few pounds of butter cream frosting). Jumping a half pound up in a day is possible at a holiday feast. 5 pounds in 2 days? 17,500 surplus calories? Joey Chestnut consumed over 20,000 in one sitting eating over 70 hot dogs and buns. So over 60 to get 17,500. I doubt you ate the equivalent of 30 hot dogs on top of your normal day's consumption each of the last two days. It's a spike.

Low sugar day made it a lot easier to stay under goal yesterday. I may weigh tomorrow, but will likely wait until Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thanks UpDownAround.

I was 149 today. I ate lunch around noon. I had gone about 24 hours since my last meal, but I was feeling fine. I had about 775 calories for lunch. Dinner is going to be chicken in a cream of broccoli soup and artichoke lemon sauce. The chicken has 110 calories for 4oz. I’m not sure on the sauce. I was just going to have 2/3 cup of it. I’ll probably be low. I always am on the homemade stuff. Which is why I don’t like eating it. It’s so hard for me to calculate.

My calculator says I’ve had 1,185 calories. For dinner I had 1/2 cup of sauce which I think was about 100 calories. I didn’t finish the sauce part. I also had some diet juice which was 5 calories per 8oz but I didn’t measure it. I calculated 60 calories in juice. I may be wrong. It may be closer to 1200, or it may be less than the 1,185 calories.

Late last night, I happened to be down in the bathroom in sleep shorts, a shirt and wearing the sling (which is one of the padded ones, not just cloth) and decided to step on the scale. It read 162. Taking away the clothes and sling might put me just under 160, but just barely. My true weight is probably closer to 155 or 156. Most of the difference is inflammation and fluid retention. It seems to be reactionary; totally unrelated parts of my body, like the fingers of my right hand (surgery was on left shoulder) are slightly swollen.

Calories both of the last 2 days have been right around 1500. I plan to continue low calories for a while. I went crazy the last 2 days before surgery, especially the day before. I gave myself nearly free reign because of my plan to cut nearly all sweets during rehab. Until I feel sure the effects of the surgery (on weight) have cleared up and I see weights consistently below 155, I will stay at 1500 plus what little exercise I get. Hopefully exercise will improve soon; I should be able to do recumbent cycle at the gym and getting bandage off tomorrow means more shirts will fit. I can only wear XL or larger button down shirts with the giant bandage on.

Got to take off bandage and shower this morning. I had already had breakfast an was pretty hydrated but I stepped on the scale anyway. Just below 160. I might not weigh again for a few days to allow inflammation to subside some.

I was back at 151 today. Yesterday I was 147.6.

So far I’ve had 540 calories. I really want to break this cycle of two good days, one bad day. Because I currently can’t get below 147.

Which isn’t a terrible weight for me to be at. Only 2 pounds above a normal BMI. But my goal is 135.

Weight loss is not linear. It's going to bounce up and down. Because you weigh often, you know those high weights every few days are spikes from fluid or something moving through the system a little slower than usual; nothing to be concerned about. Your body needs more calories than you have been consuming lately. You can't defeat physics; the weight is going to drop.

I was just saying that my weight is basically maintaining around 147-151. I would like to break that cycle, but it will take discipline on my part.

I was 148.8 today. I had a couple low calorie teas for breakfast. I had a slice of pizza for lunch. I’m going to have a couple chocolate toaster strudels in a little bit. Then around 3:30-4 I’ll have a box of Green Giant Brussel sprouts. Dinner will be 4oz of baked chicken and 3 servings of steamed yellow squash. It all adds up to 1200 calories for the day.

I was 158 early this morning. Tomorrow I am going to do a recumbent cycle cardio machine at the gym.

I was 148.2 today. I might have had too many artificial sweetener filled drinks yesterday. Today, I’m trying to stay around 1200 calories. I’ve had around 670 so far.

Got to the gym yesterday for cardio and a tiny bit of abs/back I could do without using arms. 156 this morning; the last two weigh ins have each had a drop ~2 pounds as the swelling/inflammation is going back down.
