^^Good post^^

I like to get the truth. I'd rather read an honest critical review than a fake one. Rest assured, many are reading your reviews and heeding the advice. Don't rate yourself with likes or dislikes. Those are meaningless (IMO).

The truth is always hard- most times we or others cannot accept or understand the truth.

I agree about the many reading the reviews. I'm personally not one to like or dislike very much when reading the things that I'm looking to read. Falls into another category of those likes and dislikes being traceable and compiled.

I had a detailed Theorie about society and the truth some time back and had a lot of criticism sent my way for it, which ironically was the main theme in the theory itself. [This Theory was posted elsewhere in internetland]
In short folks in growing numbers are taken in with the idea of entitlement and this leads to anger and resent. So when a person hears something that does not suit them they can not handle the emotion inside and go negative in a big way.
This could explain a lot of strange voting in elections and people in the media increasingly insisting their views are the true story, sometimes even believing the story they tell themselves after a while.

But often, when I do the same for people, post a detailed review of something that is negative (but not even that negative) people HATE IT.

A hobby I have is posting reviews of movies that don't have a ton of reviews on IMBD. I always try to be detailed and fair and just state the facts.

But I always get "not helpful" votes.

It seems to me most people don't want to know the truth. When I post a positive review (5 stars) I always get a lot of helpful votes.

Just seems odd.
I think most people value truth.

However, there may be a fine line between "truth" and perceived negativity. I too leave reviews quite a bit. If I get treated really well, I leave a very positive review. If I don't like something, I leave a negative review. Where I get frustrated is when I see accounts that only leave negative reviews. I guess since you brought it up, I need to look into my own feelings about it.
Because when I see this, I will get the impression that the individual is just a negative person or hard to please.

I can't tell i you are referring to me but as i stated I give good reviews too but I see any negative ones getting the shaft.

Also, I feel like I also ignore bad reviews that are too crazy or don't give much detail, but I do give detail when I have a bad experience.

It seems like people just don't want to hear anything negative... which is concerning to me. Because negativity per se isn't a bad thing and can be a good thing.

I see what you mean now. I wasn't referring to you with the negative reviews comment, I was just trying to give ideas for their poor responses. But it sounds like they may have an inability to grasp this reality.

Perhaps people are generally afraid of negativity and prefer to create their own reality. My day does it. I call it "living in Mayberry". It doesn't help anyone.

Thanks for sharing!

If I suck at something..let me know so I can either find something else to do or improve. People don't want the truth because they want everything sugar-coated. Some things are impossible to sugar-coat and trying to do so makes you sound like a fool. I would rather be thought of as a b**** than a fool.
