Have you talked to your doctor about this, Dnester? Maybe that could help. I don't think it's anything major, but since you've had it for a long time maybe it would be wise to check it out and see what it may be. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you

It was just a thought. Having ironed that out now then I guess we move onto other sources. I am sure you are not alone though. The questions I have are about the sound itself. Are there distinguishable words? Are their multiple voices in unison? Does the sound stay at a single monotonous chant or does it go up and down changing its inflection? Does the intensity directly vary with your mood and anxiety?

It stays a a continuous low tone. There are no voices. It just kind of sounds like humming but its chant like. There are no words. Its kind of anxiety producing because its unusual.

continuous tones are called tinnitus. An inner ear problem that can sometimes be perceived as inside ones head.

my suggestion is contact your medical doctor who can check to see if you have any ear infections or other ear problems and can refer you to an ENT (ear nose throat doctor) and an audiologist (ear doctor that does tests to find out if you have a hearing problem or if there are other ear problems)

dehydration/ not getting enough fluids can also cause this in me. your medical doctor can do a blood test to see if you are getting enough fluids and other nutrients to prevent this also.

Besides that, what kind feeling the chanting itself, brings to you. I would consider it not normal if you did not experience something like this from time to time, be it a tune or a chant.

It's probably physical or neurological caused by stress. I agree with Amanda it's probably something in your ears. I hear a sound resembling a sound of boiling water from time to time. It's from frequent ear infections as a child. I'm used to it and I don't even think about it. It can also be from high blood pressure caused by stress. Or an echo of your own heart which gets worse in stress. Since you've had it for such a long time it probably isn't serious but you can contact your ENT or neurologist to check it out.

The chant mirrors the feelings are are experiencing around the problem, and that is perfectly normal.
