When I first made friends thru an app, I was about 7 years old. But it was not “ me “ that those people are making friends with, but a person I made up for fun. And I find it really interesting. When I was in junior high school, I made up this person to chat with my best friend in real life. My goal was to make her fall in love with this guy and I made it. Even though she found out few years ago, she didn’t even talk about it with me. I should have apologized to her and felt guilty or regret or sth else, but honestly, I don’t feel either of those, and I would do it again if I had the chance.
Am I acting normal ?? I should have felt remorse, shouldn’t I?? I am 18, female. |

Now that you are an adult, I presume that you have decided to change things about yourself that you did as a child?
Did you not have any guidance from adults during those years? Any interest in your online activities? How did this go on for as long as it did? Maybe lack of remorse is in direct correlation to the neglect that you endured? |

Are you still doing this, Tina890426? I don't think it's a good idea to pretend to be someone else, because they're going to find out sooner or later. Was there any reason in particular that you were doing? Was it just for fun? Maybe it's worth thinking about this. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you

Is it possible you didn't feel guilt because you didn't face consequences to your actions? You mentioned this friend never talked to you about it. Are you guys still best friends to this day?
Also, is it difficult for you to feel remorse in general? Or just this particular activity? |

Actually, I can hardly make friends whom I really seeing them as my best friends. But that girl I mentioned she still considers me as her best friend now and I have no idea why.
Ever since I was 7 years old I have been doing this to this day. But it’s not an ongoing things. I mean I did that once in a while because I got bored easily when chatting to friends online and therefore I would just ditch them. The problem is that I can not understand why pretend to be someone is wrong since I rarely do that to people I know in real life, I only do that to people I don’t know. I think that is the reason I do not feel guilty. I do it only for fun I think. |
