First of all- I welcome the humor this will invoke, making me laugh is welcome as well as serious replies. I am right handed so I have nearly mastered the art of left-handed wiping, and gotten good at one handed eating. I use voice to text for posting and texting. I cant drive and go for a post-op appt tomorrow when it will have been 11 days since surgery. My son went back to college, daughter and husband off to work and school so its my first day alone. I stopped taking pain killers during the day, only when I wake up at night. It just made sense to stop them because tolerance is a real thing. I have heard some funny one handed ideas-like practice giving the finger- relearn how to suck my thumb etc. But in all seriousness what can I do, I already read a ton. I am going bonkers and might not be able to drive for 8 weeks!

Hmmmm. I would definitely be going stir crazy too. Are you able to go for short walks? Even in the house? I’m glad to hear you’re doing well post surgery and glad to hear you’ve still got your humor

Take off your shoes and socks and learn to hold a paint brush with you toes! Start with something simple like a circle.

I have ms (multiple Sclerosis) sometimes my arms / hands/ motor functioning skills are sorely lacking. I have found that I enjoy doing everything I can do two handed by doing so one handed. it takes more time and patience, the one thing that constantly gets the laughs is trying to one handedly tie a childs shoes. I have come up with some really strange ways of doing it.. (using clothes pins is my childrens favorites.) hair styling is also great time passer for my daughter and I when I am working one handed and sometimes no handed lol make up beauty salon is another joy around my home on those days lol
my suggestion is just think about what things you enjoy doing and then do them. it really doesnt matter if a person is one armed, two, or none any one can do anything they really want to do if they put their mind to it... oh yea cracking eggs one handed is becoming popular around my house lol |

In the 80s there was a book, Drawing on the right side of the brain, which is what you do when you use your left hand. I would throw out my back and strain my knee if i tried to paint with my feet!

Hike? Art? Cook?
I have a friend with limited right hand mobility. She found some left hand only sheet music for the piano. |

Do you have an account with Uber or Lyft? Since you can't drive, have them take you somewhere...wander around an art gallery or museum...a park....hang at a coffee shop....see a film at the cinema? If you feel up to it. If you don't feel like being out, you could stream lots of films and get lost in the characters' stories. Or listen to a book on tape if you can't turn pages.
