Anybody else feel like they’re mindset is completely different when it’s night out. I’ve recently been work 3rd shift and my thinking is very different. It’s more negative, hopeless, and sinister. But as the sun rises during my shift I become a more positive person.

I mean last night I was talking about how I don’t really want to be with my wife any longer. But now as the sun has rose I find myself more hopeful for my relationship.

Is working nights new or unusual for you? I found that I was unable to function well when working third shift & it did affect my mood negatively, I would feel some relief in the morning...but it did not last.

I go through this, but also throughout the day. My moods are all over the place..one minute completely motivated and happy, and the next depression and despair. Meds have helped a lot (I'm taking Valium right now).
Could be something to do with the natural light maybe, too.
Hope you find some kind of answer/solution with this and your relationship good luck.

My husband worked night shift for years. He finally was able to get a position working day shift, starting last year. It’s a big difference for his mental health and his overall mood. He is much less stressed plus he finally gets enough sleep.

He took a pay cut due to losing shift differential and working days is actually harder and busier as most patients sleep at night (my husband is RN) but it’s all worth it. Much much better in every sense. He paid his dues by working nights for long enough so now it’s someone else's turn, someone younger!

I suggest when you can switch to day shift. Much better for your health
