Hi, I posted on reddit hoping for an answer too. This might be the better choice though.

My brother is 28, has ADHD, and maybe something else. I'm not sure. He tends to make noises or say things out of the blue that don't always have relevance to the conversation. He tends to ramble on when he does get talking, many other things obviously. Most of this is can be attributed to ADHD clearly, but I was wondering about the weird noises and saying things because he knows that he does these things, but if you ask him " Why are you making cat sounds?" the answer is always "I don't know." Also random outbursts of anger that are short and he is usually remorseful afterwards.

I read about Tourettes and watched some videos of people having those tics. There are no similarities, so I was wondering has anyone on reddit has had a similar situation or know anything about it? My only theory is that it helps him concentrate, but I'm not sure. I can also give a few more examples for clarity if necessary.

Thank you to any and all replies!

It's hard for me to speculate on this, MelodicMelody, because I think it could be many things. I must confess that I do the things you describe your brother as doing, but I don't have Tourettes. I have bipolar disorder, but most people I know who also have bipolar disorder do NOT do these things. In my case, I think it's a little my personality, a little my sense of humor, a little related to self comfort, and maybe something else.

Thank you for your response. Do you or anyone else that may reply think it's something to worry about?

You should maybe head over to the ADHD board and see what those folks think. They might have some helpful input for you.
