Have you ever stopped and thought to yourself “Wait a minute, I am acting completely nuts right now.”? But been unable to stop yourself?

Yes, many times as well. The mind seems to have a life of it's own sometimes, and all you can do is damage control.

Yes, but I wouldn't call it silly...I'd be inclined to say, "I'm feeling out of control right now and can't stop myself."

I am ashamed I’m having the meltdown. It’s later that I realize it was just silly and pointless.

Pretty much daily. Mostly when I am by myself or with my husband, but I don't care even if I act silly (nuts) in front of people in public. When I refer to "nuts" here I am really referring to silly, odd, or out of control behavior. I don't have to really be that symptomatic with my illness to act like that. It is part of my personality, which I generally like. Some of it is good fun. I'm not that self-conscious about such behavior.

Probably. Can you give more detail? What kind of "completely nuts" are we taking about? Angry nuts? Or like, awkward nuts, where you just think you're acting weird but its really just social anxiety?

With angry nuts, I always know after, if I've "gone too far." And I tend to pause before I "get too crazy."

With awkward nuts, its just important to be kind to yourself bc anxiety lies and you're probably fine.

Yes I have had days like those. That’s when I just stop talking and try to gather my thoughts and then I apologize if I have said anything hurtful.

At the time it was the ONLY skills I knew how to respond with given past experiences & not knowing more useful skills. It was actually reacting with the mindfulness I was capable of at the time so in reality it was not silly, it was the best reaction I was capable of having to express what I was feeling.

Do I look back & say "silly"? No.....because I am capable of looking back to where I was at the time. Now with good therapy & learning mindfulness in its true form, I don't act silly (unless I am just goofing around) & I know exactly why I act the way I do. Might not end up being the best choice of actions in the long run but it is ALWAYS based on my best knowledge at the time.

About past stuff sometimes. I also realized I was going through a lot and was also only 13 at the time and wasn’t getting the proper treatment or meds. So while I need to take responsibility I should be more gentle with myself. Other stuff I’m doing now I have no idea why I’m so fixated on it. But I think it’s out of fear. These 2 people remind me of how I was when I was 13 and they bring back bad memories.

All the time. I have to get myself together. Carrying such weighty trust issues from a traumatic childhood....it has killed my relationship. I have to figure out how to let go and stop the madness. I look for things my boyfriend could be doing because I feel like noone is loyal, noone really cares. My stepfather molested me at 10 and my mom stayed married to him for 10 of his 27 years in prison. I am a mess and made my life a mess too.

I act like a nutcase at some points every single day. It's fun! I am often disinhibited. I usually know and don't care.
