I was wondering what the chat room was like? Is it limited to Q&A chats? Do people hang out in there frequently?

I used emotional support chat on two occasions when I was in a bad shape. It was casual chat between all involved, no q and a session.

It was great. I really needed it and one time spent the entire day on it. It was a group of us with no where to go for a holiday so we were there for each other. We chatted about books and movies and about our cultures and travels etc Kept my mind off some depressing things I had to deal at the moment

I haven’t tried it since. I heard from others that now it’s full of drama and conflict. It was sad to hear and I sure don’t need drama so I haven’t logged in

I once participated in a chat with Dr. Jon. It was very good because I had a question and he was helpful with his answer.

Give it a try

The chatroom has a coffeehouse where regular chat is allowed. For intense convos there is the emotional support chatroom. You can also attend hosted chats by DocJohn there. And, you can create your own chatroom and make it invite only or private. You also have the ability to private message other users in chat. So, it has its pros. There are moderators who monitor the chats to make sure there are no trollers.

So when I click on 'chat' what room am I in? And how do I find other rooms?

@sarahsweets when you click on chatrooms it takes you directly to the coffeehouse chatroom first.

To switch to another room, you click on the 3 dots that appear to the left of the screen. I can help you. Just let me know when you go into chat. Also, the moderators in chat can help you too.

Yes, Sarah, people hang out there frequently. As someone who does go into chat daily, compared to many of those who responded, I can tell you that it's a safe space, there is very little drama, and it's moderated quite well. All the rules of the community still apply. No religion or politics, etc.

Whomever mentioned creating your own chat room, I'm not sure we still have that functionality, but even so, only moderators and chat hosts are supposed to do that. As it stands all scheduled chats happen in the auditorium. There are a few scheduled chats every week.

There was some drama years ago before many rules were laid down on the chat community and it has been much better since then. Take it from someone who goes in chat daily and can be considered a "regular". Itself a safe space and mostly everyone is very enjoyable. And if you want to chat privately with someone, that ability is still there.

I think you should check it out. It's been a great resource for support for me on PC.

I've usually found chat to be a positive experience (although I am not anywhere near a regular)

I have found it to be a safe space also (I missed that drama (?)
Possible trigger:

I agree, its a good resource for some members and there usually is very little drama (and it has been a good resource for me and still would be if I remember to log in)
