I'm not actually very close to her but i hear about stuff from her brother. I really think she needs help.

She has an eating disorder im pretty sure but shes never been diagnosed. Her parents refuse to take her anywhere and instead yell at her for losing weight. She keeps breaking down crying and its getting worse. I think its been going on for more than a year. She's around 12 years old.

I'm in no position to help because we don't even live in the same state. I'm online friends with her brother.

I don't know how to fix this. The parents are not physically abusive, but I don't really know where to call or what her brother should do. Could anyone tell me what to do?

I really don't know much about these kinds of things except to say that if there's abuse going on in the household - child abuse - then it's probably best for a social services agency to handle it. Perhaps let your friend know about that or look into yourself.

All the best, and I hope things improve for your friends sister too. Good on you @wekido.

thank you so much for your reply. I just re read my message and i realized that i said "are physically abusive" instead of "aren't" and yeah that was a huge mistake on my part my bad. I can't really find a way to edit the thread but hopefully that clears some things up lol

Could you ask her brother to talk to someone at social services, or a social worker at a hospital? This is the type of thing that it it continues she could become suicidal. A shame her parents are so ignorant
