I have Borderline Personality as well as OCD. I also have pretty bad general anxiety and dysthymia. I have a question. Growing up I've always had a really extreme reaction to the idea of cheating in relationships. I'm 20 and never been in a relationship and my parents have never had to deal with any type of cheating. I'm not sure why it's such a big deal to me when I've never personally dealt with it.
I can't read any books pertaining to cheating without feeling nauseous and uncomfortable for house. I have this fear of being married and my husband cheating on me for years without knowing. Sometimes I feel like I can't really trust anyone 100%. Is this something anyone with OCD or BPD relate to? |

Hi the readhead. Welcome to Psych Central. I am sorry you have such a strong reaction to cheating. It is not a nice subject to deal with. BPD I have heard has issues with abandonment. Maybe that feeling is related to that.

To me this sounds like a sensitivity thing that is related to fear / anxiety / worry. And yes, due to the nature of that worry (relationship abandonment / betrayal, etc), it could be related to your BPD.
Confession: When I was around 17-18 years old, I had a massive fear of being / becoming schizophrenic. It was like the worst thing I could think of at the time (sorry to anyone who is schizophrenic and may read this - I don't feel that it's the worst thing at all anymore). I went through a lot in my teen years, but this was something that consumed me sometimes. While it's not the same thing subject-wise, the topic you brought up of having a worry / intense sensitivity to something made me think of my own. Sending hugs. |
