I'm interested in knowing your answers to this question: what's your expected response time to your email/text in your 1-workplace for work related stuff and 2- social life?

If I don’t get an email within an hour of sending one then I’m not going to get one. I usually get texts within a few minutes a sending them. I reply to text immediately unless not necessary and I reply to email as quickly as I see them unless not necessary.

Good question, I reply to messages as soon as I see them but have tried not replying so fast because I think people get annoyed. I usually get replies back pretty quick in messenger and text in a social situations, I don't have a job but when I did Replies would usually be fast unless it involved covering shifts, then peoples phones never work.

At work we normally have 24 hours to respond If it’s something important. It’s not physically possible for me to reply to all emails immediately. If it’s personal I reply fairly fast. I don’t really have expectations on how fast people respond. It depends how busy people are

I don't really have expectations. (re social life). Or if I do, its on a person by person basis...

It depends on a lot of factors, doesn't it? If you have to email/text a person but you dislike the person, there's not much expectation. But when you like the person, the dynamics are different. Theory of relativity

In this digital age, people have the choice of ignoring your messages (or delaying the response time) and use any excuse to justify their action. Sometimes people are busy, and this is understandable. But sometimes they are not and don't respond within a reasonable time. Maybe because they don't like you, or they don't see your messages as important because you are not important to them, or maybe they are just playing the power game (e.g., at the workplace ). What is considered a reasonable time seems to differ from person to person.

I reply immediately unless there’s a good reason for me not to. But once I can, I reply. And I usually expect a reply within a few minutes to an hour. Depends on the person and if they are working too. I know some people who are very good at replying while others won’t reply for days or weeks.

1. For work, I ask for a text to get an immediate response. An email, I’d answer as soon as I can and no longer than a few hours wait, unless it was something that needed to be done quickly. I’m in a fast-paced job when there is a transaction at play.
2. Personal, I answer texts, if I want to when I can...usually as soon as I see it. Emails, either right away, or I’ll wait to think about what to say. I may not even answer one. Recently I got one from a long-lost, bad blood relative... __________________ "And don't say it hasn't been a little slice of heaven, 'cause it hasn't!" . About Me--T |
