This whole game of phone tag, email and wait days maybe even never get an email or phone call back. It’s exhausting. And then after it all you find out the psych wasnt even a good match for you. I wish i could meet a dozen at a time , exchange all info upfront and see if we “click” with a brief convo because it’s been so difficult finding places in my network, that offers what Im looking for, and that has the personality Im searching for

Great idea! I get so tired of it! I spent weeks calling & emailing psychs for someone who has DID experience and training. They all advertised on psychology today they do DID but when you talk to them on the phone they're like "No, I absolutely no DID training or experience." The secretary of one psych assured me she has lots of DID experience but when I actually talked to her during a therapy session she said that she has no DID experience. Fun stuff. I wish they were more honest on their psych pages.

I used to get pushed aside by mental health professionals, clinics, whatever. I got tired of being treated that way. I started being very assertive. As in, calling every day and saying, "I really need your help." Just lay it out there. Eventually they either hook you up with a mental health professional because they think you're really cracking up, or they hook you up with a professional because they get tired of you calling.

Either way the squeaky wheel really does get the grease.

Right?? That’s where I find a lot of them too and a lot of the time it’s the same problem i come across. Or ive called the number listed and its no longer inservice/ up to date. Or theyre part of a clinic and not accepting new clients but the clinic itself is so under the psychs profile it says theyre accepting new clients-__- ugh

Some T said he couldn’t work with me when I first saw him after I told him my diagnosis because he said he wasn’t qualified. The clinic had already set everything up before. Why didn’t they just ask during intake what my diagnosis was so they could have found a better match? It all seemed pretty stupid to me. I didn’t even know my diagnosis required seeing a special therapist. It wasn’t even why I was going to see a therapist.

And now other issues are coming up and I kinda wish everything would blow up in my T’s face and I’d be like “dude I told you guys at the start my diagnosis is not why I went into therapy in the first place.”
