As most of you already may know, the world's biggest and best toy store, Toys R Us, will close it's doors for good by the end of this month, if not already.
I can't help but be saddened as it'l be the end of an era. I fondly remember the times I went there as a kid, which were few and far between because I grew up in a small Midwestern town that didn't have one. It took a trip to the big city 2 hours a way to be able to visit one. So, going to Toys R Us was a huge deal for me. So, it's with tears in my eyes, and a heavy heart, that I bid this fond childhood mecca a final goodbye. __________________ MY BLOG IS NOW CONVENIENTLY LOCATED HERE!! I was so sad to read that. I have my fingers crossed the Canadian branch doesn't go down as well, but I suspect it's only a matter of time.

I bought some stuff there last week. Toys R Us was too expensive for my family when I was a kid. We would sometimes get gift cards for there. We usually went to KB toys which closed years ago.
4 years ago I went there and bought two spongebob items. I spent $60. So I can understand that people want to shop at Walmart and Target because it’s less expensive. It’s sad though. |

I forgot about this I am ashamed to say. I had meant to call and find out what the percentage off was going to be on Transformers before my last payment and totally forgot.
I have found a lot of cool stuff at TRU. I bought my first Mega Man game for my NES there, several TG16 games and cool toys. I got four or five TF G1 reproductions there back when they were an exclusive item. This really saddens me too. I also miss KB Toys and Tons of Toys. |

I have nice memories of shopping at Toys R Us for or with my kids when they were little. I bought their very first toys there. Lots of toys, gifts, games, party goods, over the years.
But I haven't been there for many years. I'm glad I have the nice memories. |

I often took my daughter there. It was just as painful when Borders got closed because we went there every Sunday. All my daughter’s childhood stores are closing. I think we are entering new era. All online/digital/steaming etc

Oh, shattered sanity, don't even get me started on Woolworth's. That place was an awesome part of my childhood. Loved that store!

i always preferred to support the small independent stores.
I don't recall even seeing a Toys R Us until a few years ago. Last edited by justafriend306; Apr 16, 2018 at 05:57 PM.. |

Yes...it sucks. I loved Toys R Us. Sears in our area went out of business as well, and my family has done business with them for two generations. I think I will live to see the day when it is gone entirely.

I miss the glory days of Sears when they were the place to shop for anything and everything. I remember the go-karts being lined up out front, the cool toy department, the hardware section, the little place in the middle of the store that sold roasted nuts. Those were the good ol' days. Now K-Mart, Zayre and Brendle's are gone followed by KB Toys, RadioShack and now Toys R Us. I hate change unless it's a roll of quarters and I'm at the arcade. |

That's sad, I'm nostalgic to it.
