Default Beanie babies?

Do you now or have you ever collected beanie babies? Do/did you have any rare ones?

I started collecting beanie babies when I was 11. I would get whatever I could find from the thrift store. No matter which one it was or what quality it was in. When I got older I started collecting only rare ones or ones with older tags. I go to thrift stores and I only pay $1 or less for them. Iíve made some pretty good money and Iíve found some pretty rare ones.

I found a dinosaur that I paid less then 90 cents for. I sold it for $20 and I found a bee that I paid 25 cents for, and I sold it for $15. I also found a bear thatís not rare by itself but it had an older tag. Which made it more valuable. I paid 50 cents and sold it for $10. Besides that Iíve found several other rare ones or ones with older tags. I always at least get my $1 back.

I had kind of given up on beanie babies. Until I went to the thrift store on Monday. I found another bee, a super rare camel and an orange crab. They are all authentic and they all have there tags including their hang tags. I paid $3 total. Both the crab and the camel I dreamt of finding when I was a kid. Iím not sure if I want to sell them. I do like them and I mean, they are childhood dreams. Iím guessing I could probably get about $30 for the camel and $15 for the crab. Maybe $5 for the bee since itís not in great condition. But I probably wonít sell them. I donít need the money that badly.

My daughter had a ton. A ton. I saved some favorite ones. Waiting for maybe when she has kids she can give them or they can play at gradmas. Thatís if she has kids of course. Not interested in selling though. Too much work and not enough profit

My son used to collect them. They are cute, but they have really lost their value, so they aren't a good investment, but they are fun to collect.

Yeah thatís why I go to the thrift store and buy rare ones for $1 or less. I donít get much money from selling them, but I still get way more then I paid for them. Iím really selective though. Even if I find one thatís not rare, but has an older tag, I only get it if the tag is in mint condition.

Itís a fun hobby for me.

I remember when Beanie Babies came out. I adored them and had 3. I remember one was wearing bright pink. but I don't recall anything else. Except that they were so soft.

I know it would be fun to go beanie baby hunting. It's great that you got such a good deal in ones you wanted.

I hope you keep your beanie babies.

My daughter liked them, and she never took the tags off (not sure why). Iíll have to ask her if she still has them.

I still have mine in a storage tub in the attic. I knew I couldn't get all the different beanie babies so I just focused on collecting the feline ones. I am a huge cat lover.
