I hope everyone had a good day. It was nice sitting in the corner watching everyone enjoying themselves. After planing a roast and veggies for IRL dinner I ended up having a bowl of clam chowder. No energy to fix a big meal and no appetite.
Shall we plan a New Year's Eve/Day PC get together? |

It was a quiet, simple and enjoyable day. It's not over here, yet, as the Celtics game is still on. Watching Jimmy Butler of the 76ers whom my oldest mentioned as a brainstorm idea for an upcoming school paper.
Had a call from my dad. They are having a nice day with their 4 foster kids. He told me of plans for his upcoming anniversary and new wife's bday later this week. I also had a surprise to me call from my half sister. I know she's in a world of hades but I kept things light explained my chinese food tradition-not for not loving to bake or cook and wished her well for today and her the same to me. My maternal fam and I are in an all inclusive group chat so we all wished each other a merry christmas from all over the country. My middle son awoke from napping to his favorite dish still warm on the table. And we'll all go for our annual day after the holiday walk around the mall with some little purchasing power. My new makeup is fab. So I did play around with that today-a little self care is what I recognize needing. This thread has been fantastic, thank you TravelingLady!! I'll be home for the New Year festivities as far as I know. |

Christmas this year was very emotional for me. This year will be the last I go all out/crazy over buying extravagant gifts. Next year I'll get one present for each of my parents and call it good. Going crazy over gift giving has been destroying my mental health these past few years and with two SI flare ups this year (and 1-2 flare ups every Christmas-time year prior) I just can't handle the stress of it all.
I did get great presents. I got a very nice pair of winter boots/all-weather slippers with memory foam and it is very warm and cozy, I got a nice pair of very fashionable yet weather-orientated rain boots, and I got this amazing room freshener and that says quite literally on the bottle "smells like an Indian temple". I sprayed my room and the whole house with it and it is so calming. From my brother I got a Rick and Morty mug that changes color when it gets hot. My best friends are coming up next week and we are doing our own little Christmas. One bff sent me a package and told me not to open it till she gets here. I got her and my other bff matching Christmas mugs w/ hot cocoa and matching hoodies with my "Oregon Coast" hometown name on it. My parents are now cooking prime rib. It's their first ever attempt at cooking prime rib and they are babying it. We're all praying that it turns out perfect. It was a very expensive meat but my mom really wanted to go all out this year. |

So sorry you're sick, Dag. Yes, I actually started this thread early with folks "a day early" like those in Australia in mind. And it ended up being a long one.
A New Year's Bash sounds great! Who wants to sort of head it up? I'll help as much as I can. I had a good day. Our Christmas meal worked out fine. We bought most of the food yesterday and heated it up today--turkey, ham, green beans, etc. Everybody liked the gifts I got them and I got some good stuff, including a new lap top. This one keeps freezing up and otherwise being a pain. My sis and bro-in-law just went back to their hotel. They'll be in town until Thursday. My sons go back tomorrow, since that was their original plan. Our tentative plan is for me to go to see my son in D.C., probably in April. And I do want to get out to Indiana to see my son there some time this year. |

The prime rib was phenomenal. Everyone had seconds and my mom had thirds. We asked for a 5-6 pound meat and we got an 8 pound. We may give some to our neighbor and feel free to take a slice. We all have food comas!
