Hi, all, and welcome to our PC Christmas Day thread. Make yourselves at home here, and we can look forward to having a place to go for the holiday, even if you aren't a Christmas-type person. We can celebrate a Jewish holiday, secular holiday, or whatever, too.
I am Travelinglady, a 63-year-old lady, who comes to PC most every day to visit with friends, post about what little I know about things, especially when I see a thread that hasn't been responded to, play games, and provide more meaning to my life. I have bipolar, and even though I wouldn't wish it on anyone, my diagnosis has meant that I found PC and it has added so much to my life. Okay, I'll shut up now--and I can--since I'm not currently manic. Who else do we have here? |

Hello, I'm LL. I'm turning 26 on the 21st. I have bipolar, PTSD, and an undiagnosed eating disorder (T doesn't know what exactly, no P-Doc available yet), as well as a history of SI and anxiety attacks. I recently moved to Oregon from California. This will be our first Christmas in our new home which is very, very exciting. I am very excited for Christmas, I am hoping it will be a big celebration. We put up our Christmas tree before Thanksgiving! My brother was home for Thanksgiving and we wanted things to be festive for him. No lights on our house, we don't have many neighbors and we live in a quiet area so no need, but we do have two trees, our main tree for the house and a small light-up tree for our front porch. I think our Christmas trees are beautiful, both are fake, our main tree has candy-colored lights and our little one has white lights. We lost all our ornaments in the wildfires, but my mom picked up red, blue, and white ornaments and they shine so pretty in the lights! They're just perfect.
*gasp* I haven't had any egg nog yet, did someone pick up any egg nog for me? I just need one glass of eggnog, it's all I can stomach for the season but it's a tradition! |

I'm healingme4me, I'm 43 a mom of three sons, two are teens and one is a tween. I'm here at PC daily. I have an anxiety disorder, depression and even have MS which is in remission *phew*.
Life has been rather hectic lately with my job. And I've been travelling out of state weekly to visit my maternal grandmother best that I can as her health took a nosedive over the fall, nearer to Thanksgiving. She's 86 and she's been a secondary mother figure to me my whole life, not an atypical grandmother/granddaughter relationship in a traditional sense. We are quietly celebrating Christmas this year with a rather simple porcelain lit tree. No major decor. Took it to a household vote this year. |

I'm Nammu a 60 yr old who recently moved from Austin Texas back to my hometown in rural Minnesota. My Christmas is white again, that's both good and bad. Pretty but cold. PTSD under control and BP in remission and back surgery took care of chronic back pain, will always be deaf. Haven't started decorating for the holidays everything must be brought up from downstairs and stairs are hard on my back. Did buy a tiny tree ( less than one foot)with a few decorations for a side table. Not really into the whole drag out boxes and boxes of junk just to have to put it away in a month. Between mum and I we have enough junk to decorate three houses. But she's soon 91 and with my back its just not appealing.
LL we have eggnog! You are welcome to a cup. __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. …... Desiderata Max Ehrmann |

I am 65.....& have been on PC since fall of 2004. Probably one of the few on here still from way back then. PC has seen me through a trauma & a huge move alone (with my doggie Leo) 2100 miles across country. Have seen what I was going through from bad marriage, PTSD, anorexia (2 times) depression & anxiety, through years of intense DBT therapy after finding the best psychologist in a small town after all there were available in Los Angeles.....& even finally after 11 years through my divorce though the marriage asset battle will be continued next year out in Calif. Yep all his drama & stupidity I have privately posted about here.
The past 11 years of freedom have been an amazing healing process for me & living on my farm surrounded by nature (& adorable woodsy raccoons) along with my dogs has been the environment I have finally thrived in. Tgis Christmas I am mostly staying at home....getting out for a few hours for errands & a little socializing here & there but my doggie who has been my buddy for all his 16 year life & has never been away from me all these years except for my trip in July to Calif for a legal hearing was diagnosed with a lung tumor in Aug when I got back home. My life right now has become a home care person & nutritionist & cook for my 2 oldest doggies. My real senior one who is 17 1/2 + & has a little doggie dementia on top of being blind & mostly deaf. But she is healthy, eating well & getting the same care I am giving my baby (who just turned 16). Time consuming & monitoring how they are doing constantly. So I am home & on the internet between caring. Yea, when it comes to decorating I just finished fall decorations AFTER Thanksgiving. Will probably finish Christmas & Winter after Christmas but hey when you share your home with just doggies they don't care what decorations are up. So this is where I am hanging out to try & stay somewhat social while staying at home doing doggie care. __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. Aside from the virtual eggnog, I had my very first eggnog beverage today! I went to the liquor store and they had a holiday themed section, so I picked out an eggnog-and-brandy type beverage. I stuck it in the freezer for a little over 20 minutes and poured myself a glass. It's absolutely delicious! Sometimes these dessert drinks can be too strong, but it's a perfect blend of eggnog flavor and brandy, neither is too strong (and the eggnog flavor tastes just like real eggnog) and it's mmmmmm delish!
Woo hoo! I had my work holiday party today. It was great! We each got a backpack with a fancy water bottle, pen, leather notebook/calendar, and hand balm all with the company logo on them, and we all got new lanyard name tags, all of it was sooooo cool! I used the gift card to the coffee shop I got from them for my birthday and oh it was soooo delicious! I chatted up my coworkers which was fun, the catering was amazing, and we played White Elephant and someone had their heart set on the present I brought for the White Elephant--a tall Starbuck's mug with a peppermint hot cocoa packet--and I didn't know that till the very end! The entire time I sat there all sulky (on the inside, not showing outwardly) because I thought my gift was so lame that everyone was passing it up and my gift was one of the last to be chosen...but I was absolutely stunned when this co-worker was called, JUMPED out of her seat, raced to my present and SNATCHED it up! She brought it back all smiles and tore open my gift, proudly showing it off and my gift even received oohs and ahs! I was STUNNED! It made me feel so good, and afterwards she came up to me asking where I lived (because we all introduced ourselves and she said she lived nearby) and I told her I was the one who gifted the present she chose. She was just so ecstatic about it and said she absolutely loves mugs and had to have it. Well lucky me, that made me feel so terrific! Today was a terrific day! Not too much longer before Christmas! *squeaaaalllll!!!!* *sips dirty eggnog with glee* |

splitimage here 49 years old, living in Toronto. LL I love the white elephant gift game, it'so much fun. I'm having a tough time getting enthusiastic for Christmas this year. Haven't even put my tree up yet - but may do that today.
I'm on disability so I have no money to do anything expensive for the holiday season, but I like to go downtown and check out the Christmas decorations in the store windows. But I just got a part time job, which I'm very excited about, but which means I'll probably be working right up to Christmas. And my new room mate just moved in yesterday so just getting adjusted to each other will be a challenge. I'll probably be alone for Christmas so I'll probably be here a lot. I'll roast myself a Cornish Hen for dinner as a treat. |

Mum dragged the tree up, so we put it up and strung the lights. Really don't need more than that but knowing mum she will be bringing more stuff up....I got the Christmas grumps.

I'm so glad I decided to check out this thread. Others talked about it and got my interest up. I was afraid the thread about - literally - Christmas Day. I'm just not in the holiday mood this year. Didn't want to get into a cheery holiday thread. Turns out it's more about who we are.
I'm a 64 year old female. My only "official" diagnosis on paper is major depression. I'm integrated from DID, used to self-injure and qualify for a diagnosis of complex PTSD, but it's never been put in writing. Live in the boonies in central Florida with my six cats, dog, horses and chickens. I came to PC a l-o-n-g time ago when the previous online community DocJohn started started to implode after DocJohn moved on and created PC. Like I said, I'm having trouble getting excited about the holidays this year. I used to be like a kid this time of year. Family members ruined it for me. I put up decorations in my office at work. Enjoyed doing that. I put up some outside decorations at home yesterday. I haven't decided about putting up my tree yet. My Miette (kitten) is an inquisitive, active explorer. I'm afraid if I put up a tree she'll trash it. Still... I enjoy decorating the tree and looking at the pretty lights.... we'll see. Trav, thanks for starting this thread. |

I am a 25 year old woman I will be starting my first job since university this week. I have anxiety. Events are difficult for me to go this year because of their expensive and I started my job so late. I am looking forward to meeting my new coworkers and the work Christmas party. Am hopeful to find events that aren't too expensive nearby and will have money soon.

Good to learn more about folks here and to meet new folks so far. I've been thinking about a menu for our "Christmas" Day feast. If I can find a ham and post it here, then I'll bring that. LL, will you bring the eggnog and the brandy? Now what else do we all want?
