I ordered food this week from a place that does healthy, packaged meals. I was so excited to try them out, because I'm a terrible cook and their food looks really good.
The meals came today via Fedex. I unpacked them... and the seals are all broken What I mean is... they have a cardboard type tray with a plastic seal over it... the seal seems to be well attached 3/4 of the way around, like you'd see in a frozen meal from the grocery store, but the last little bit didn't seal, on any of them. Sometimes it's a bit at the corner, sometimes an entire edge. My concern is that these came via Fedex. They've been sitting in warehouses and on a truck. Anything could have crawled in (yuck), taken a couple bites and crawled back out - it seems very unhygienic. What would you do? I think I need to contact them, but I'm afraid they won't give me money back. I got a discount, so that's good... but it's really disappointing... especially because, otherwise, the food looks good! |

I personally wouldn’t eat them. I am weird about these things. But last week My mom ate KFC that had been sitting in the microwave for 16 hours and was fine. Also my newphew ate yogurt that had been sitting in the hot car overnight and he was fine. I think it just depends on how you feel about it. I think things are a lot more sanitary then they used to be and are a lot more safer to eat even if the conditions are not ideal.

Probably were discounted for this reason. Contact the company. They will find them in a worse position if their product gives some-one food poisoning or worse. I wouldn't eat it. Hope you can get this resolved with the supplier.

Of course you need to contact them. That's a health safety issue.
To add: (as this is literally my line of expertise)What you do is take a picture. Include the date/time/invoice number. Ask them to please advise. They need to make it right by you. They will need to inform you of the next steps. Either chuck or await pick up but with fresh it's usually chuck it. |

No, don't eat them. If the company doesn't give you your money back your credit card company or PayPal or however you paid for the meals may be able to cover you.

Definitely inform the company. I hope they refund your money. Who knows what contamination could get into a partially opened container?
It sounds like the company needs to review their quality control procedures, if none were properly sealed. Hopefully your complaint will help with that. |

My sister had this problem all the time and the company either refunds or gives a discount on the next box when a seal is broken. Definitely call.

Heck no. I buy hello fresh and seals never ever broken. Don’t touch the food and request refund

No way, I wouldn't eat them. I would contact the company and request a refund.

Thanks... really appreciate the input and seeing that I'm not crazy. I haven't eaten any of them yet... I'm a bit nervous about contacting them, I don't see anything about refunds on their site and I think someone said (on another forum) that they just give you a credit for another box. But, I don't think I want another box at this point - all 6 meals, all of them, had bad seals! I don't really feel like I want to deal with them anymore, as it's a bit too much hassle, especially since I now have to scramble to figure out what to eat this week.
Thanks!!! |
