which is better
which do you prefer and why? I prefer travelators at least with travelators they are not enclosed and you don't need to worry about the door hitting you on the way out (or in) with travelators their is the small matter of stepping on to a moving platform (and that's sort of scary), but a lot better |

ignore the word esculator in the poll
my mind was somewhere else for just a second (I can't seem to edit it to say elevator, so blah) |

I encounter a lot of escalators. I always have trouble stepping on one at first and then I almost lose my balance and tumble down the stairs.
I rarely encounter elevators. Except at hotels there’s only one I can think of that I ride and that one I only ride once a year or so. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

I got stuck in a lift once. Came close to a full blown panic attack. I'll only take the elevator if necessary.

My first career job was on the 22nd floor of a high rise in Westwood Calif. Elevator, stairs....or at least a few flights to get exercise & get in shape for our daily lunch racquetball games.
Only place I find those moving floors is in airports & usually the one going in my direction is the one NOT working. Shoot I even did escalators when I was on crutches for 3 months after I had knee reconstruction (NOT replacement). Lol....the hospital wouldn't let me go home until I could do several flights of stairs on my crutches. I go for whatever means I need to get to where I want to go __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. We went everywhere together like this. I take the stairs because I like catching a cold from touching the railing.

I knew someone would ask me that at some point (actually I was getting worried no one did, lol) do you know what an esculator is? (the moving stairs) a travelator is a little bit like that, but rather than moving stairs, it's a moving platform that moves you from one end to the other (you get them at airports, I've seen a couple at the supermarket near me, you get them sometimes in big complexes like malls) sometimes it moves you by itself, and sometimes you need to walk along it I think that's (or hope that's) a pretty good description of a travelator |

That is what I assumed in my reply post when. Lol....they go slower than I walk so walking along with their speed helps when I'm running late.
Also like them when exhausted & just don't want to take another step in the long walk....can still get to where I need to go....just slower but with no more WORK on my part. They are nice when they are working __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck. We went everywhere together like this. ahhhhhhhhhh, you mean "moving sidewalks"
But what on earth do you refer to as a door? Do you mean the entrance gate or turnstyle? However with respect to the moving sidewalks I get pretty irritate. There are those who have no clue how they work and the etiquette involved in riding them. It works like two lanes on a highway; one for slow traffic and the other for passing. It never fails that some arse decides to stop with all their luggage on the left hand side of the walkway (or esculator) blocking the flow of the traffic of those walking upon it. The proper etiquette when riding such things is to use the right hand of the moving machine to stop so as not to block those who wish to walk and pass. Also don't be a moron and block the entire walkway with your luggage and bags. Expect an angry barb at you for doing so. With that said, yes I use the moving side walks. When it comes to escalator Vs stairs? Unless the stairs have open risers I opt for them over the escalator. I am always scared of getting on and off the moving stairs. It is embarrassing. Lol....when I am running late & in a hurry not to miss my flight I am NEVER shy about saying "excuse me I need to get by".....usually they are nice & move out of my way.

I've never seen a travelator anywhere other than airports. Never heard the word either. My impatience makes me usually avoid elevators unless it's very high.

I will use escalators and on rare occasions a travelator (I rarely go to the airport) but don't like escalators at all, they scare me.

I don’t think you can compare them as they don’t serve the same purpose.
