I am so angry I need to vent.My washing machine wouldn't spin,I rang for a repair man and he turned up and took two minutes to fiddle about in the drainage hole and it was working again. For this I have to pay £120, £20 a month for six months and if anything else goes wrong in the six months they will fix it for free or if its not fixable give me a new machine.Well now the dryer has stopped working properly so that will be my second chance and it seems unfair as the only thing wrong was a blocked drainage tube.Really this next call out for the engineer should counts as my first.I am so angry and as it's Saturday today I have to wait till tomorrow and call them but an engineer probably won't come out again until next week. This has upset me and I am angry. They charge a fortune and really they could have told me to check the drainage tube and told me how to do it,and it wouldn't have cost me so much!

Thanks for replying downandlonely, yes it is so frustrating,I feel like crying.

I am also very upset I just watched the program 600Ib life and the man on there James is 800Ibs in weight and bedridden,he is too fat to get up and walk and I watched the program where they filmed him over 18 months go see a doctor to help him lose weight, but he refused to stop eating the wrong foods and he continued to overeat while lying to the doctor.

His wife Lisa was bringing him the food even sneaking burgers into the hospital and she admitted it and she was laughing, the doctors intervened every time he was brought in to treat the infection in his legs caused by lack of circulations due to his being overweight.

If he doesn't lose weight he is going to die, every time he rings emergency to take him into hospital a team have to go out to bring him in in a stretcher the doctors do just enough to keep him alive, but he has to stop eating to lose the weight and he won't and he lies and defends his wife saying the doctors are blaming her when it's the doctor's fault.

The truth is his wife wants him dependent on her and is sabotaging it and he doesn't like healthy food he want to continue to eat junk, and lots of it, while expecting the doctor to perform some kinds of miracle.

The doctor said James will most likely die because he is deluded that eating isn't the reason he is gaining weight.I saw Lisa tell James she has fish and vegetables to cook for him,and James replies I don't want that crap, order me a chinese with rice, spring rolls etc.

It was so frustrating to watch people that are just blind to their own ignorance and so very deluded ask for help then fight that help and play games.

So I felt so frustrated angry and sad over that program and when it ended I got up to see if the clothes had dried, I had them on a drying cycle and they were still wet.I know the dryer was working,it dried them then wet them all over again. That intensified my frustration.

Now I want to cry I am too upset to go to bed,its almost midnight here in the UK.I just needed to vent,I am upset about my washing machine but I am frustrated, upset and angry at how stupid James and Lisa were in that program and how they were arguing with the doctor to do something when it was they who had to do it.

Anyhow,I think writing about it here has helped I am starting to get over it..I just went into the Hotpoint website and booked an engineer to come look at the machine and fix it on Tuesday 26th March. So it will get sorted.I will phone them and ask them if I can still have another repair as the first one was a two minute job.

Wow, the washer and dryer going at pretty much the same time is a bug bear. Fingers crossed they will behave from now on. It never hurts to ask Marilyn.

It does sound frustrating but you have to pay his hourly shop rate regardless of the difficulty of the repair. Yeah it sounds a bit unfair but his time is his time. If he charged you less for your job that is time wasted where he could be making more money for a more involved job. So the flat rate evens all that out. General rule of thumb is you are charged a full hour in addition to parts and a 'shop supplies' fee for the visit even if it doesn't take that long. This is how such things work. And, regardless of how we feel about it, it actually IS fair.

That is exactly why I have learned to diagnose I figure out if a repair is simple enough for me to fix. I have saved myself thousands of $ by learning how to take care of easy repairs myself.

I have done plumbing & auto & lawn tractor repairs & handle most of my own farm work. Even have a chain saw for some work.

Hmmmm maybe james has a large life insurance policy his wife wants. Maybe that is why she keeps bringing him food when she knows it is what is going to end up killing him. One never knows the REAL thinking behind some actions.

I agree about making an effort to be self-sufficient. Lord Google has saved me money again and again and again.

So has YouTube for me. Have learned how to do more things.

Google also helped me find the computer error codes on my last washer that died. Lol....error codes that ONLY the repairmen are supposed to have. Any time I have a problem I look it up so I can define it & see if it is an easy fix. If I can't figure it out I ask friends. Last resort is the repair person BUT because I have done my research I can talk intelligently with them about the problem & they know they can't mess with me because they know I know what I am talking about. That also saves repair bills for extra items that don't really need repaired. When money is tight every cent saved counts.

The washer/dryer is fixed, the engineer came today, the error code showed an airflow issue,so he took it apart and cleaned the inner parts,it is working ok so far ,I am just trying it now.I spoke to the man who sold the repair plan to me,I am covered for six months however many times the machine breaks down, and after the six months I can renew it.I asked the engineer how long the machine's life was given that it's six years old,he said that if I keep it on a plan the engineers will keep fixing it and keep it going.

Sometimes you need to look at the actual cost of that repair plan over time. If it gets more expensive the older the machines get or if you end up spending MORE on the cost of the plan than the cost of a new machine.....one has to look at overall cost not just for the moment.

Like 6 years down the road if you have paid more for continually renewing the repair plan than you would have spending money on a new machine.....your overall cost is important to analyze.

I agree, overall cost of the repair plan over time is on my mind too, there will come a time when it won't be cost effective to keep the plan, but for now I can't afford a new machine.

I am dealing with that with my 2005 truck. I don't have an extended warrantee on it any more but getting the repairs done & paying them off in 3 months without interest.....is definitely in my budget. Getting even a newer used truck is impossible now. Sometimes we have to do what works financially at the time. I sure understand

I am angry cos I found out today that my mum has cancer again. So far all we know is that they found malignant cells in her eyes, these are either in her blood of coming from a location elsewhere in her body.Mum is 87 and infirm, she can't walk or see,she also has Charles Bonnet syndrome where she is blind and hallucinating. She sees people and places from her childhood and youth and believes it is happening now.I am sad.It is likely if she has cancer she will die from it,she says she doesn't want to suffer so won't have chemo. She wants to go peacefully she says.

I was anxious and upset now the news has made me angry. Also I am waiting to find out the results of my biopsy from the post menopausal bleeding that I had. They put a camera inside me,the doctor said it all looked normal. They found two polyps which they removed and they biopsied the lining of the womb and I have been waiting for the results from the lab.I find out tomorrow if I also have cancer.I am very angry.

I was hurt, upset and my self esteem went down to rock bottom today.A nasty woman doctor exageratted my biopsy results, trying to change it from pre-cancerous cells to saying that I actually had cancer.I said to her they haven't confirmed that I have cancer and she said they can't confirm that you haven't either and then she lied and said that the lab said there is a high probability that there are cancer cells there. But there isn't a test they can do that brings back a high probability you've got cancer, the tests either finds cancer or it doesn't. She is twisting it to make it look worse than it is,to frighten me into agreeing to a hysterectomy. That is what they did last time in 2016 they lied and exaggerated to use fear mongering to force a hysterectomy on me.I am angry about that.I am angry and I felt powerless in that doctor's office even though I stuck up for myself.I refused at first to have an MRI then I agreed to it then I rang back and cancelled it,then I wrote that doctor a letter and told her I felt she lied and exaggerated about me having cancer,I told her I had lost confidence in her and wouldn't accept being under her care, that I was discharging myself back to my GP and would ask to be referred to another hospital for a second opinion. But the anger I felt this time I buried it deep inside and it turned to depression.
