Yesterday I felt like I had a major breakthrough in my therapy. Like most things it gets put out of my mind easily. I have been wondering about getting a tattoo to remind me what happened. I have no tattoo on my body.
Just wondering if anybody has celebrated with a tattoo for important events and breakthroughs? |

Yes. I have 3 tattoos directly related to my mental health. One for the struggles. One for the successes. One to remind me that I am stronger than I sometimes believe.

No day but today............. Very true. Thanks for sharing that Blue_Bird.
Yes we do need reminders FracturedPieces. May yours give you comfort. When I went to see my T we talked as we always do. I struggle to like myself. We were talking about organic peaches. Peaches that arent perfect looking. They might be bruised, marked etc. I love sweet fuzzy organic peaches despite the imperfections. It made me think that I could like myself. Then I thought I maybe could get a tattoo of a peach. |

I love tattoos that are deeply personal and meaningful. A peach would make a lovely tattoo. Have you thought about where you would put it on yourself?

I would like it where I can see it. Maybe a small one on my wrist? Though I need to be a little more settled in with the idea of liking myself first. |

I've gotten tattoos to cover up scars, in celebration of recovery from SI. One of them is based off of a novel I've written, and the other is of a character whose aesthetic I love and whose story is brilliantly written, as well as a stark contrast to mine -- someone pointed out the juxtaposition of the destruction of the self (my scars) and the destruction of others (the character). It's pretty neat, and I really love using tattoos as rewards for things.

I am thinking about getting a tattoo in memory of my grandfather, who passed away May 25th, 2019.
