I had posted this in the BiPolar forum. I'm curious what others think.

Mirror or photo. Which is the real you?

I look horrible in pictures lol I prefer the mirror. I use the front camera on my phone because it shows a mirror image.

Both. Sometimes I look stellar and other times I look like I just crawled out of a dumpster. I appreciate both as that is everyone if we are being real with ourselves.

No difference. I look grungy after working around my farm either way. I when I get cleaned up to go somewhere I look the same either way too

HOWEVER.....I have very naturally curley hair that frizzes in dampness/humidity so the mirror look right after styling my hair looks much more like I want to look....then I step outside &

I suppose the photo is the real me. I can't stand them. I look way different than the person I see in the mirror. Shockingly and not just the appearance of weight that the mirror is less harsh with. Photos catch me while doing something - it is rare that I stop and pose for them so I am never at my best. Nope, I'd rather see the mirror image instead.

I hate the way I look on the photos, that's why I haven't taken any photos since I was 15, haha. In the mirror, I look way better

I hope it's the person I see in the mirror and not in photos. I think it probably has to do with two things 1) the lighting in my bathroom is more flattering and 2) unlike photo me, mirror me is alone and doesn't have the weight of other people's opinions about me weighing her down, she's just herself.

Ooh, I like this question. Photos capture a frozen instant, which is not how we normally see people. In the mirror you see a moving, reacting, living person.

Of course, some photos are excellent and convey some emotion or trait in a superb fashion. But I find that generally a live image lets you see the actual person better.

And of course I think I look better in the mirror, so I'm biased.
