I'm a list maker. Usually it's a to-do list. This time I want to list things I accomplish. I'm off work the last few days and next week. I have about eleven zillion things I want to get done while I'm home. Wednesday I started beating myself up over not getting enough done which lead to feeling depressed. I thought it might be helpful if I focus on what I get done instead of what I didn't get done. So, I'm going to post what I get done here....

Some time back I sorted through my books, boxing some to give to the library and some for a friend. Problem is I didn't label the boxes. Thursday I sorted through some of the boxes. Friday I hauled FOUR boxes to the library.

I weeded the majority of my flowerbeds. This is a big deal. I have nine flower beds in the yard.

Trimmed BG's nails.

Cleaned and organized the laundry room, including scrubbing the walls.

A biggie today was moving floor mats (100 pounds each) in one of the stalls, hauling dirt in, then dragging the mats into new places. I was knackered after that one.

Dang, I just started running through the things I need to get done while I'm home through my head. I made myself go back a review what I just wrote. Dang! I've been busy!

Thanks. I needed to hear that. I got up this morning, looked around at everything that still needs to be done and started to get down on myself.

Sunday -
painted the floor of the carport at Mom's house
packed my grandparents wedding china and crystal
cleared the cupboards in her dining room, sorting stuff to keep or give away
weeded two of three flowerbeds at the house

I inherited my Mom's house when she died. One of my major goals for this summer is to get it ready and put it on the market.

I'll post about today later.

WOW....makes my list of accomplishments sound small.

Great work.

I doubt that Ky has any more humidity than Fl.....but it is hard to work outside when the temp is 88 but the humidity makes it 98. Good time for indoor work. With my horse here (after 12 years) I am constantly outside working & making sure she is ok. I break for inside to cool off constantly though.

I definitely like the accomplishment list you are keeping. Very positive way of approaching this

Leslie, humidity here is so high the air feels solid. Last week temps were in the 90s with feels like 108 to 112. This lizard may love hot weather but even I hid out inside.

Thanks Divine. I sure don't feel like a hero.

Today (Monday) was an inside day. Weather was too wicked to do anything outside.

I spent most of the day sorting and folding clothes. For the last several months I just tossed clothes in laundry baskets after washing and drying them. I was sick of digging through baskets to find clothes for work. The plan is to organize them in drawers tomorrow

This is kind of off topic, but cute...

Eskie, your comment about checking on your horse made me think of "the boys" here at the farm. The heat and humidity are making them miserable. If they see me outside they come up and hang around near the hose. That's their signal they want to be hosed off. They shift around under the water until they are comfortable, then wander off and roll in the sand. Who says animals are dumb? Seems like they have me well trained!

Lol....I think Izzy constantly plays in her water & dumps the bucket so I will get the hose out....fill her water & hose her off. Our critters (even my wild ones) are soooo smart....we are their servants & get things done we need to between serving them. No wonder why our to do list takes so long to get done (or even worked on)

Hmmm, haven't added to this is days.

I finished sorting and folding clothes. That let me put things away and organize them. Then I went through the stuff in my dressers sorting what to keep and what to get rid of. That let me organize the drawers. Now I just have to remember where everything is! I have a big box and two bags of clothes to donate. The box is full of cold weather stuff I'm going to take to the school where I work. Most of our kids come from low income families. Many don't have warm clothes for when the temps drop. Hopefully this will help.

In sorting through laundry stuff I sorted all the towels and sheets I brought home from mom's. Added some to mine and packed the rest for a friend who can use them.

My bathroom had become a collection point for tons of stuff I brought home from mom's. Sorted through it all. Pitched a bunch. Then sorted through the storage cabinet in the bathroom, pitching some stuff and organizing the rest. Doing that gave me room to put away linens. Scrubbed the bathroom after I organized stuff. I have a HUGE bathroom. There was so much crap piled up in it I could barely get to the sink, shower and toilet. It's all cleared out and clean now! Feels so good to see it like this.

I shifted mats and hauled dirt into one of the stalls again yesterday. In order to do the job right I'm going to have to take the mats out and haul in a bunch of dirt. It's going to have to wait until fall/winter. It is too friggin' hot right now.

I only went to mom's once more during the week. I'd planned to go Friday, but got up to a horrible fibro flare. I gave myself the day to curl on the sofa and read a book. I'm pleased that I was a) willing to take the day off and b) not beat myself up about it.

Today is my last day off until next Friday. I'm planning to spend part of the day ironing clothes for work and watch DVDs. Might not sound like much of a day off, but it will be so nice to have clothes for work ironed and ready. Before this break it was causing me all kinds of stress every morning tearing through laundry baskets looking for clothes, then discovering they needed to be ironed. Now I can just get clothes out of drawers or the closet.

I'm proud of myself. I've stayed (for the most part) focused on what I got done, instead of beating myself up for what didn't get done. Yeah, large parts of the house are still a mess, but my laundry room, bathroom and bedroom (well, 80% of bedroom) are clean and neat. My goal is to have mom's house ready to go on the market by Labor Day. That looks realistic at this point. My number one priority while I've been home has been to get some rest. Might sound kind of silly given how much I've done, but I was exhausted and rapidly approaching burn out before this break. I may have worked my butt off the last week, but I've taken breaks when I wanted/needed to. I got a good night's sleep every night. For the most part I didn't think about work. I'm feeling mentally and physically ready to go back tomorrow. Plus I have more time off to look forward to. I'm off next Friday through the following Wednesday. Go in that Thursday (have a case in court that day). Then have a three day weekend.

Very good combination of productive & restful. Good use of your days off.

I have actually found that I get MORE accomplished if I stop & rest when I feel the need. Gives me more evergy to get things DONE.

This is a continuation.... I'm in the midst of more time off that started last Friday. I planned on working at Mom's Friday. I woke up with the blahs and didn't. I'm okay with that.

Saturday I got a friend to help me get the mowing deck off my riding mower so I could take it to the shop. Got it fixed yesterday. Today I managed to reinstall it on my own. I'm really proud of myself for doing it. Spent a couple of hours mowing. My yard looks like I was mowing hay the grass was so long. I do love the sight of a mown yard.

Spent yesterday at Mom's working. Heat index was over 100. I was knackered by the time I finished outside. Poked around at some stuff inside, but didn't have the energy to do much. I'm okay with that too. It'll get done when it gets done. I'm hoping to go up and do some inside stuff tomorrow. I'm tired and swore from wrestling with the mower to get the deck back on today. If I'm still tired and sore tomorrow I'm going to stay home and do light stuff in the house.

It started raining here a little after 8am and lasted all day. I reminded myself I'm supposed to be on vacation this week. So today was a vacation day. Did a couple of loads of laundry, including folding and put away. Other than that I spent the day cuddling fur babies and reading. 😁

You really accomplished much yesterday I admire how you did what you needed to do and was able and willing to do it. You deserve to feel proud of yourself. OTOH I'm not telling you what to do or how to feel. That's up to you. Bravo!!!
